The PineClan territory is the most enclosed one of the four. A large pine forest takes up most of it's territory. The trees there are tall, forming a sort of net that catches most snow, and allowing a needle bed to cover the ground. During Ice Freeze, snow usually finds it's way to the needle-covered ground.
The border with SnowClan is the wettest place on PineClan territory. Large mounds of snow tend to stay there year long. The border is marked where the rock of the mountain can clearly be seen against the dirt of PineClan (though some argue that the dirt is wearing away, giving SnowClan more territory each year) During leaf-bare the snow reaches above any cat's head, and only the most desperate travel there, for fear of being buried alive.
The border with SandClan is on the other side of the pine forest. There are no needle beds, and instead of sporting mounds of snow, there is some hard-packed ice-dirt, and even the slightest hint of sand. As you move further along, the ground turns completley to the white, icy sand of SandClan, yet, scattered pine trees still sprout from the ground here. It is here where many a battle has been fought over land between PineClan and SandClan.
A small distance away from the PineClan camp is a cave and a clearing where Brown, Grizzly, and Polar bears dwell. The bears and the cats seem to have a sort of unspoken truce. They don't seek each-other out to fight, and for the most part, are peaceful--but if a bear comes across a cat, the cat will be killed. This is not usually a problem, though--the bears and cats tend to steer clear of one-another.
Between the PineClan camp and the bear cave is a small, thin stream of icy water, where fish can be found. No cat crosses onto the other side of the stream, and the same goes for bears, though they both use it for fishing.

Sunpaw padded over the slightly rocky terrain and saw the bear cave up ahead, the bears didn't attack without reason, but she was tiny compared to them, and it was better not to take chances. She was about to sweep round, to go the other way, away from the bears. But suddenly she froze. Bear scent wafted into her nostrils and flooded her senses. A growling started, directed at her or not she wasn't sure... ((Just generally waiting for someone else to come, tis no fun running from bears on your own, lol.))

Camp was boring. There were no patrols to go on, Hummingsky (his mentor) was out hunting and all the other apprentices, including his sister, were out training. There was n o t h i n g to do. Which was why he was here.
Adderpaw was secretly facinated with bears. They were huge and powerfull, exactly what he wanted to be. Strong enough to defeat any cat. He'd seen two fighting once - probably over a mate - and it had been an awesome sight. Now he was crouched behind a huge boulder near the entrance to their den, watching a big brown one prowl around. Adderpaw was careful to keep down-wind. The bears didn't attack as a rule but he wasn't about to risk loosing his fur by strolling around in plain veiw.
Then the massive creature raised it's great shaggy head and gave a low growl. Adderpaw's eyes followed it's beady black gaze to see Sunpaw and his heart sank. She was almost down wind but not quite. It could smell her. He only hoped it was in too lazy a mood to chase her. Crawling up onto the rock he signalled urgently to his denmate with his tail. She needed to be carefull or she might end up satisfying the bear's hunger instead of it's usual fish.

Sunpaw caught sight of Adderpaw and some of the terror washed out of her deep dark brown eyes, she crept forwards, step after step, paw after paw... CRACK. Sunpaw jumped, she had stepped on a twig, and the bear had turned it's gaze on her, it growled, a deep, menacing sound at the back of it's throat. It lumbered towards the apprentice, but in seconds, it's pace had become swift. Faster that Sunpaw's clumsy legs could carry her. She made a running start towards Adderpaw, but the bear had already swiped his claws deep into her sandy-orange side. Blood seeped out, and she yowled in pain, the cry fading into a choked yelp. She scrambled desperatly towards the older apprentice, paws slipping in appehension as the bear sent a few swipes after her, faster than she had ever shot. The bear wouldn't catch her, not yet. She gave a rasp as the pain seered in her side, blood spreading thickly across her flank.

Adderpaw had waited tensely as the apprentice crept foreward, every hair on his pelt prickling. Sunpaw was great but she was not the most...sure-footed of the apprentices. She had a few clumsy tendencies and Adderpaw sent a silent prayer to StarClan to keep her from doing anything further to attract the bear's attention now. Unfortunately it soon became apparent that not even StarClan could keep Sunpaw from being clumsy. Adderpaw winced as she stepped on a twig and gave a grunt of frustration that soon turned into one of alarm when the bear began it's attack.
"Sunpaw!" He yowled, leaping down form the rock toward her as the bear's claws struck home. Fully intending to attack the bear, he stopped, surprised as she shot away from it, faster than he would have ever expected. Darting foreward to meet her he grasped her tightly by the scruff and yanked her behind the rock, out of the bear's view. There was no doubt in his mind that they would have to run soon though; the bears were fairly smart, or as smart as anything not a cat could be.
"What were you doing, you clumsy furball?" He hissed as quietly as he could for being furious. Not that being furious was anything special for Adderpaw. Seeing the pain in her brown eyes he softened his tone a little to add gruffly, "How bad is it? Can you still run?" The dark ginger tom risked a glance around the edge of the rock to see the bear scenting the air and he hoped she could run because he had a bad feeling they would have to.

Sunpaw nodded, indicating with her tail the deep claw marks that had sliced through her side. Strangely enough, she felt incredibly alive. The pain numbing. Fear lost in a whirlwind. She leapt forwards a few paces, stmbling a little.

A concerned look darkened Adderpaw's green gaze as the younger apprentice stumbled and he shuffled around to stand beside her so that she could lean on him if the need arose. He flicked his tail briefly against the wound on her flank, hoping it wouldn't slow her down too much before tensing as the bear growled, a lot closer this time. It was time to go.
"Good. Let's run." He meowed curtly, running but keeping close beside Sunpaw incase she stumbled again, or needed help. [/color]

Sunpaw nodded, pain was lacing back again, she whimpered, but forced her lead-like legs to move. Sure enough, she began racing away, in terror, pausing momentarily to make sure Adderpaw was still there. Her paws slipped. Agony was quickly dancing into her once more...

As the smaller apprentice's paws slipped, Adderpaw ducked over to support her with his pelt. He gritted his teeth as the wetness of her blood trickled onto his own coat but didn't pull away, worried that she might fall over completely if he did. A growl behind them that made his neck fur stand on end told him the bear was giving chase, just what they needed. As if that wasn't enough, there was a sizeable fallen pine tree up ahead that they would have to scramble over. Perfect - more obstacles for a hurt cat.
Sudenly, an idea dawned on the young tom. Maybe the tree could save them. It had been there for a while and so was rotting quite badly. If it was hollow enough for the two of them to fit in, the bear wouldn't be able to reach them. With any luck it would give up and go away if it couldn't claw them. "Hang on, Sunpaw." He growled, "We're going inside that tree there. Get in as far as you can." He hoped she would do as he said, otherwise the bear would surely catch them before they made it back. If it wasn't big enough for both of them to fit in he would have to draw the bear away himself. Adderpaw hoped there would be room for him too though, running from bears wasn't high on his list of things to do.

Snpaw nodded, her brown eyes pained, though penetrated by gratitude. She nodded and scrambled over, as fast as she could, tail winding about behind her. She gave a gasp of pain, brain beginning to numb.

Upon reaching the fallen log, he nosed his fellow apprentice into it hurriedly, throwing a worried glance over his shoudler at the rapidly approaching bear. Adderpaw could see she was showing signs of begining to loose conciousness and hoped she could hold up. They couldn't afford for her to faint.

Sunpaw finally toppled weakly into the log, clawing her way into it, her paws scrabbling at the rotting wood, she huddled as far up as she could go, waiting desperatly for Adderpaw, panting in pain. Energy being sucked swiftly from her limp form.

Seeing that there was room for him too, Adderpaw scrambled in swiftly after Sunpaw. He crouched low against the flaking, rotting wood, close to Sunpaw but infront of her, ready to attack, should the bear take a swipe into the log. She was already badly wounded, he could take a few scratches yet. A hearbeat after he whisked his tail inside the log, the bear's low, dangerous meanacing growl sounded out, chilling his fur. The great creature's black nose sniffed about the entrance to the log and it roared, knowing they were in there but not knowing how to get them. Adderpaw gave a hiss of defiance, it would not be getting them today.

Sunpaw managed a weak smile, though her eyes were chilling and were laced with pain and terror. Her voice and paws shook as she whispered. "Thanks." She was no longer worried anbout the bear, it wouldn't get them in here. But her mind was numbing, and she had an overwhelming temptation to sleep... The apprentice's eyes shut swiftly closed and her head fell, unconscious, upon the ground. From blood loss and pure terror.

Slipping into the forest surrounding the camp, Dustwater felt at ease. Still, she wouldn't let her guard down, should some cat decide to follow her. A loud, bellowing roar from across the forest sent a chill through her pelt. A bear, she thought. She also heard yowls, and raced over to see what was going on. Were cats involved with a bear? It had to be an apprentice. Those cats were as useless as kits, and about as intelligent, thinking they're so big, and then getting into all sorts of trouble because of it! The she-cat skidded to a halt and stared wide-eyed into the clearing as a blubbering, bloody Sunpaw collapsed into a hollowed-out log, and Addderpaw followed. Those mouse brains! she thought furiously, as she watched the dim-witted bear stumble around, trying to get into the hollowed-out tree. He didn't have a scratch on him. Sunpaw looked as if she had only minuites left before being lost. She didn't have time to wait for the bear to lumber away, those things where stubborn, and while it probably wouldn't get the cats, it certainly wouldn't be leaving anytime soon, and Sunpaw seemed to have only so much time left. She loved to see cats die, especially stupid apprentices, but she hissed as she realized that to continue her fluffy, clan-loving facade, she'd have to do a good deed sometime soon, and so, rolling her eyes, she leaped onto the bear's mid-back where he couldn't get her with a great yowl, and clamped into its rough skin with her huge, pointed jaws. Her claws hooked into its skin and fur, and she began raking at its pelt with her back claws, bent on getting the bear away from the log. Sure enough, the bear stepped away, roaring in defiance, and flailed about stupidly trying to reach the she-cat on its back. "RUN, MOUSE BRAINS, RUN!" she yowled, before scrambling up the bear and raking at its eyes and nose. This time, the bear roared in agony, whapping her with a huge paw. It also whapped its head, and while Dustwater was sent flying, hitting the frozen ground hard, the bear stumbled and fell, blinded and unable to smell, roaring as blood streaked down its face. That was all she needed, and she raced over to where a bloody and unconcious Sunpaw lay, picked her up in her bare jaws, and yowled through a mouthfull of fur "YOU'D BETTER RUN FAST ADDERPAW, OR YOU'RE AS GOOD AS DEAD!" before racing along, a limp apprentice in her jaws, her head still spinning from the fall, body and muscles still aching as she tried to suck the breath back into her.
