Wildstar heaved as if the weight of the world was on her shoulders as she sat down, calming herself until she saw Bonekit begin to do the same. She then continued, "StarClan has never voiced their thoughts on cats being demoted of rank. If they do, I will be sure to make you an apprentice again, but as of now, you don't even have a cat who has agreed to mentor you, and so, I think it is best if you remain a kit. But I will tell you this: By the time you're eight moons old, if there is still no ready cat to mentor you, I will do so myself, and you will share mentoring with your sister. It will be hard to manage, but I will do it." she mewed, before glancing around the clearing at the cats standing there. Body sagging, Bonekit knew she had lost the battle. She nodded before slipping under a hollow space beneath a pile of stones. She would've gone to the apprentice's den, but she was no longer one, and as for the nursery, it would be far too humiliating to stoop into the small space and lay her head down there. Fury still raged inside her, but there was also sadness, dissapointment. The punishment was too harsh, and she had brought it on by making her sister angry, which made it out to be more serious than it was. Burying her head in her paws, she hid the anxiety and anger in her face.

Ashpaw dipped his head to Wildstar, gritting his teeth together tightly. He padded towards a secluded corner of camp, where he could barely be seen, behing a jagged rock. Sinking down, he though about Bonekit. He had never heard of a cat being demoted before.

Bonekit lifted her head up a bit, just in time to see Ashpaw duck behind a large rock at the far end of camp. She slunk out of her hiding place. staying low to the ground, as if that would keep her from being spotted, and scampered over to her friend. Pain glazed her lavender eyes, and she gazed at him in agony, "I'm sorry, Ashpaw. This is all my fault, and now you won't get to go to the gathering..." she trailed off. Words could not contain the anguish in her voice, and she had so smother a yowl of pain rising in her throat. After a while, she mewed softly, "Wildstar's right, I deserve kithood..."
Pepperpaw glared at her sister, slithering along the ground to go back to her little friend. The least she could do was keep her dignity, she thought, turning around and rolling her eyes. The mousebrain deserves kithood! she thought bitterly, before sitting down and giving her fur a few impatient licks.
Wildstar padded over to the apprentice. She looked exhausted and depressed, but she spoke in a scathingly upbeat tone of voice. "C'mon, Pepperpaw, we should be training," she mewed, then turned to Yewstorm, "I expect you to look after thosoe too, don't let them leave camp," she added, pain returnint to her voice. She then whipped around, and padded toward the camp exit with Pepperpaw in tow, indicating with her tail for the young she-cat to follow.

Anger flared in Ashpaw's eyes, anger and pride. "It's not you I'm angry at! It's Wildstar, I won't question her again. It just seems unfair!" The apprentice clawed at the ground, silvery-grey coat glinting dully. His eyes were slits of unhappiness.

Bonekit gave a mrrow of dismay. He was angry at their own leader, and it was all her fault, ultimatley. She was the one who wanted to go hunting, stone-hopping, of all things, a skill that most cats had to spend moons perfecting, she thought she could do without even trying. "It is my fault, and you are mad at me, whether you realize it or not!" She hissed, suddenly angry. She padded out from behind the rock in an angry, upset ramapge and slipped into the nursery. She'd better just start accepting it, she thought, and was soon out of sight, buried in shame in the small space used for kits and nursing queens. She shivered at the fact that it was empty, the small clan definatley wasn't getting any bigger. And just to think. I almost made it smaller by two, she thought bitterly.
Pepperpaw padded over to Yewstorm. "Hey, the clan is so small, it could use some kits, just for variety," she mewed bitterly, an acrid laugh in her voice and intense lavender eyes.

Ashpaw hissed under his breath, he was mainly angry at Wildstar for demoting Bonekit, nothing much had happened to JaggedClan that would affect all the clans, and one gathering wasn't going to hold much information... was it? But something hurt more than anything else. His pride.

Wildstar mulled over the situation at hand, pacing back and fourth in her den. The only cats in the clan as of now were herself, Pepperpaw, Bonekit, Yewstorm, and Ashpaw. Two of these cats she had just banned from the gathering. One couldn't go anyways, being a kit. But with such a small group, she might have to take them along. There would be no one here to watch after Bonekit and Ashpaw to make sure that they didn't get up to any trouble while they were gone, and there was no way she could deny Yewstorm the right to go to the gathering to watch over a kit and apprentice, it would enfuriate the hostile she-cat. She also didn't have a deupty yet. She wondered about the other clans. Did they have deputies? She could either make Yewstorm a deputy and bring all the cats with her, or not make Yewstorm deputy and still bring all the cats with her. Maybe not being allowed to attend the gathering was too much of a punishment for the two young cats of JaggedClan on top of what they were already suffering. On the other hand, kits couldn't go to gatherings. But Ashpaw still needed a punishment. Well, he was already confined to camp, she realized. He could come with. She then came to a decision. Padding out into the clearing, she yowled, standing atop the High Rock. "Let all cats gather around the high rock for a clan meeting!" - - - - - - - - Rolling her moist lavender eyes inside the nursury, Bonekit dragged herself out, sulking to the highrock, and watched her sister tread over, eyes intense as usual, her black and white fur stood flat as she paced to the rock with an air of pride and dignity, and sat down waitng for instruction from her leader. Pepperpaw's paws tingled in excitement. She couldn't wait to attend the gathering, and she had to restrain her tail from curling in excitement at the prospect of it. - - - - - - - - Wildstar mewed loudly to the cats below. "The gathering approaches, and here's what we're going to do. We must show no sign of weakness to the other clans, so I've come to the following decision. Bonekit and Ashpaw will attend the gathering. No cat will call Bonekit by her new name, she will be known only as Bonepaw. You are not to tell any cat of what happened today, nor that Bonekit has been made into a kit again. Bonekit, you will stay with Pepperpaw the whole time. Pepperpaw, I'm trusting you, as a member of the clan, not to leave her side. Needlegaze, I'm sure you understand that your apprentice will need watching after, so you must not let him so much as a mouselength away from you. Do not speak of personal matters of the clan, there is no need for it." She gazed around, wanting to make surer that everyone was clear on this.

Ashpaw had padded in front of the high rock and was looking, puzzled, at his leader. He put his head to one side, but said nothing, gazing up at Wildstar.

Wildstar glanced around the camp. "Well then, if everyone's ready, let's go," she mewed, leaping off the rock. She was attending the gathering whithout a deputy, and at this, she grimaced, hoping there were other clans like hers. She padded quickly toward the exit to the camp, willing her clan to follow.
Bonekit was ecstatic! For one evening, her punishment was lifted--in fact, they were pretending as if it didn't even exist, and she purred loudly, padding up to Ashpaw so the two could leave together. "Isn't this great?! Isn't it fantastic?" she mewed happily. They were going to the gathering, and she was getting her name back--temporarily, but still, it was her name and status.
Pepperpaw hissed. Just like Wildstar to cave in and go back on her word. Yewstorm would NEVER do that. She sulked as she headed out of camp after her sister and mentor, intensiley irritated at the decisions her leader was making.

Wildstar padded back into camp, relieved to be out of the spotlight and back in her home. She sighed in contentment, looking up at the sky, laden with clouds that were moved away in a patch where the moon shone bright. Stars were visible between more patches, and cool darkness shadowed the framilar camp. Drinking in the scent of it, she padded atop the rock on which she made announcements and looked down on her clan which was filing back into the territory. She decided she'd have a chat with Stormcloud about mentoring Bonekit once he was in camp and settled down, but she wouldn't make Bonekit an apprentice until the next morning. The clan had had enough excitement for one evening, and besides, it was hardly a punishment if she she-cat was allowed to attend the gathering and didn't even have to endure a night in the nursery! Gazing down proudly at her small but healthy clan, she purred, glad she was leader and not just an average warrior. She still had to pick a deputy, though, and she had finally decided who. She would appoint the deputy the next day, she decided, after making Bonekit an apprentice.- - - - - - - - - - - - Bonekit padded over to Ashpaw. "G'night," she mewed sleepily and sadly to him. Now, she was Bonekit again. The punishment was back, the excitement of the gathering was over, and she had to go sleep in the apprentice's den. She would have put it off until later, but she was exhausted from the day's excitement, and so, dail dragging along the smooth, cool stone ground of the camp, slipped into the nursery and curled up. She had to admit, it was quite a comfortable space, and she was asleep in no time.
Pepperpaw slipped into camp after her sister, cleaning her fur and keeping a close eye on her sister as she bid goodnight to Ashpaw and retired to the apprentice's den. She decided that Ashpaw was a respectable cat, easy to get along with, and calm and level-headed when he wasn't with her idioti sister, so she gave her fur a few more licks before getting up and padding over to the young tom. "Want to get something to eat?" she mewed, pointing her tail towards the fresh kill pile. There were still a few more things that would be good to eat, they might as well use them up and get all the energy they could before tomorrow. Why let perfectly good fresh kill go to waste?

Sliding into the camp silently, Yewstorm licked her paws clean of a few stones and twigs that had decided to cling to her pads. Basking for a few seconds in the soft starlight, the pretty she-cat gave her ruffled fur a few licks, then turned to the warriors den. Tomorrow Wildstar would most likely announce the new deputy. Pawing at the moss surrounding her den, Yewstorm succeeded in pushing it into a nice enough shape, before laying down and falling asleep.

Stormcloud trotted happily into camp, feeling a pang of pity as he watched the exauhsted Bonekit scramble, not into the apprentice's den, but the nursery. He knew it had been a fair punishment from Wildstar but hoped his leader would lighten up on Bonekit soon. She had too much energy to be couped up like a kit for long. She needed a mentor though...Stormcloud felt the familiar buzz of excitement as he wondered if he ought to ask Wildstar about mentoring the kit. He didn't think she would be mad but was it proper to ask for an apprentice? Stormcloud had only just graduated himself and so didn't honestly know. He found that his paws had led him to the base of the rock where Wildstar stood. He scuffed his paws against the rocky ground nervously, wondering what to do.

Wildstar noticed Stormcloud padding over to the rock. Perfect timing! She watched him stop, scuffing his paws against the rock, obviously thinking. Skidding down the side of the rock to stand beside him, she purred. "Ah, Stormcloud! Just the cat I wanted to see. Sit down," she mewed invitingly, taking a seat alongside the tom at the base of the rock, and indicating with her tail that he should do the same. "I know you just recently became a warrior, but Bonekit needs a mentor. I was wondering if you'd like to take on the duty of mentoring her?" she mewed

Stormcloud looked up, thoroughly shocked. He hadn't been aware that Wildstar could read minds! He had sat down obediently, tail flickering behind him with barely contained excitement. "I'd love to!" The brown tom burst out happily, ears pricked up in delight, "I was just about to ask you myself, actually!" He was lucky he had been made a warrior when he had though, another few days and he would have been an apprentice the same time as Bonekit, Pepperpaw and Ashpaw. To go on and mentor one of them after being denamtes would have just been embaressing.
