PineClan camp is located in a large clearing in the woods. Warrior's Den On one end of the camp, there is a huge pine tree with sagging limbs that toutch the ground, thick with pine needles. These limbs create an enclosed area which is used as the warrior's den. Apprentice's Den The apprentice's den is located in the hollow of a tree. You know, the classic hole in the side of the tree that squirrels and owls usually inhabit in cartoons and comic strips. Natrually, this means that apprentices must climb to reach the space. Nursery A long abandoned fox burrow dug deep into the ground is lined with pine needles, ice, and soft moss. It carries the sweet scent of herbs and mother's milk. This is used as the nursery. Elder's Den Elders sleep under an odd bush that is thick with spikey brables on the outside, and is lined with soft moss and hard-packed snow on the inside. It smells of mouse bile and greencough. Medicine Cat's Den The Medicine cat's den is made out of a tree that fell in the forest a long time ago. It has since hollowed out into a spacious log, and has several holes and punctures in its wall, in which herbs are stored. This is particularly useful, as herbs can be removed from within the den, or outside of it for quick use! Leader's Den The clan leader and their mate live together in an abandoned falcon's nest located on one of the lower branches of a great pine tree. Great Tree Ceremonies are held from the great tree. This tree has low-hanging branches, and half of it is dead. The leader stands on the branches of the dead half during clan meetings, so all cats can see the leader without pine needles obscuring their vision.

A scrawny vole skittered across the pine needles, looking for the shelter of a tall pine tree. The little creature was underfed, and wouldn't make much of a meal. The vole turned it's head, sensing something watching it. Nothing there. Or was there? With silent paw steps she hunted, balanced and alert. The Clan needed food, and the Clan came first. Before the vole could run, it was dead, killed with a quick movement of claws. The She-Cat picked it up in her strong, but small teeth. She turned her head, sensing more prey, but it was a mouse, just skin and bones. Not a decent meal for even the most starving of cats. Not a decent meal for a Kittypet. Not caring if the snow or needles crunched beneath her snow white paws, she walked slowly back towards the camp. She could tell by the smell she was close, and she ran the last little bit. It was nice to be among the cats she had known for so long, comforting, even. As she reached the camp, she dropped the vole in the fresh-kill pile, and found a sheltered place to rest. She began to groom her warm, brown coat. It was one of her treasures, and preferred to keep it clean, if at all possible. The small PineClan cat was brave at heart, even if her size made her look shy. She was a Warrior, being brave was an important characteristic, at least in her mind.
When the She-Cat was a kit, her mother had named her Hummingkit, because her light brown muzzle, flecked with white, reminded her of music. Hummingkit was now Hummingsky, she was a Warrior.
The young Warrior sat quietly, watching the camp around her unfold.

I didn't want to waste this so ta da. :3
Sky-blue eyes, narrowed in concentration, peered out from behind a bunch of pine needles hanging off one of the giant pine trees that gave her Clan it's name. The pair of piercing orbs were trained on a fair-sized brown bird who was currently perched on the branch, about a tail-length away. Ordinarily she would pounce but it would be near suicidal to attempt something like that from so high up in the tree, one wrong paw would spell a broken spine - if she was lucky. No, she would have to wait until it came within a couple mouse-lengths of where she she-cat lay in wait.
Skypaw had been waiting there for a long time now, her lithe muscles were begining to ache from the strain of remaining still and tense but she would not give up. The apprentice would ensure that her quiet determination paid off. Her majorly brown coat camoflauged perfectly with the bark while the stray white patches simply looked like lumps of fallen snow. She was lucky to have a good natural colour, her brother had to mask his dark ginger fur with mud if he wanted to catch anything up here. He was good at fishing though - something Skypaw could never get the hang of.
The bird twittered cheerfully, unaware that it was moments from death, and hopped a bit closer. Skypaw wondered if it was close enough. It was a little over the desired two mouse-lengths but she was fairly confident she could make it, the apprentice was pretty sure-footed up in these trees. Just as the young she-cat prepared to spring forward something rustled behind her. The bird gave an alarmed cry and began to fly off but Skypaw wasn't about to let it get away. She leaped forward with a sudden agility and batted it out of the air with a forepaw. The unfortunate creature's limp form slumped back onto the branch, dazed, and then fell off it. Skypaw watched with a mixture of amusement and dissapointment as it plummeted to the ground. Now she would have to go down and collect it, loosing time that could have been spent stalking something else.
The rustling that had first frightened the bird became louder and she swivelled her head around to see her brother, Adderpaw, weaving inbetween branches towards her. "Good catch. You almost lost it though." He meowed as he neared her. Skypaw twitched her whiskers in amusement, "And whose fault was that?" Her brother narrowed his eyes, not appreciating being mocked. "You could have pounced ages ago." He declared slightly scornfully, "It looked as if you were just waiting for it to hop right into your mouth." "It was too far away ages ago. I would have fallen." She replied lightly. "No you wouldn't. We've been climbing these trees since we were kits! You'd never fall." He protested. Giving her brother's ear and affectionate lick she passed him and began her decent, leaping lightly from branch to branch. "Better safe than sorry." The brown and white apprentice called to her littermate. Adderpaw flicked his tail in annoyance and started down after her, misjudging one jump and having to scrable back up, fur bristling. By the time he reached the ground Skypaw already had her bird clutched between rows of peraly-white teeth.
With a reproachfull glance at his sister for beating him down he stalked off towards the stream to demonstrate how he was better than her. Fishing. He tried not to notice the amusement in her eyes at his determination to prove himself and flicked his tail for her to stay back while he approached the icy river. First the cat scanned the surroundings through glittering dark green eyes for any sign of the bears. He would dearly love to be able to chase the dumb beasts from his territory but was wiser than that. Ebonystar would never allow it either. Adderpaw didn't even think of the fact that one measley apprentice could hardly chase out a full-grown bear. In his mind, he was invincible.
The ginger tom padded out to the river bed, careful to keep his shadow from falling on the dark, swift-flowing water, and sat down to wait. He was not a very patient cat, unlike Skypaw, and so was glad when a dark grey shape wriggled along by him moments later. In a flash he struck one ginger paw into the river, scooping up the surprised fish so that it soared in a small arc onto the bank beside him. Adderpaw paused a moment to throw a triumphant glance back at his sister before re-positioning himself further downstream and repeating the process.
Upon catching his second fish he picked his prizes up gingerly and trotted back past his dozing sister, nudging her with a back paw to make her get back up, and trotted towards camp, head raised proudly. He spared a fond glance for Skypaw when she wasn't looking - they were a great pair of apprentices and Adderpaw knew they would make their Clan proud one day. -----
The littermates padded proudly to the fresh-kill pile to drop off their catches, Adderpaw flashing a a glance at his nearby mentor to make sure she saw what a good hunter he was. Skypaw then meowed a farewell to her brother before padding off in the direction of the medicine cat's den. She loved sitting by their medicine cat, learning the properties of all the different plants and was in awe of the fact that they could contact StarClan itself.
Adderpaw, however, had no such intrests in herbs and selected a mouse to take back to the apprentice's corner of camp. He looked about, disapointed that there were none of his denmates about to talk with, and took a bite of the fresh-kill.

Sunpaw tumbled clumsly out of the apprentice den, a sagging, enclosed pine tree, she was but a whirlwind of sandy-orange fur striped with darker ginger. Her melancholy eyes gleamed, a deep dark brown, tinged with butterscotch, that seemed to twist away into nothingness, always folorn in some distant way. The apprentice quickly steadied herself, Sunpaw's posture radiated a kind of solemn vibe, though she was, unfortunatly, rather clumsy.

Slinking out from the warriors den, Needlegaze smothered what would have been an immense yawn. He dissaproved of revealing personal matters to other cats of any clan or group, even if it was just post-sleep tiredness. Circling the camp slowly, he watched as apprentices returned from hunts, bringing back fish and birds. This, he decided, he approved of. Sitting down and giving his fur quick, hasty licks with his rough tongue, he knew that no cat would worry about what he approved of. Still, he found it important to have his own principles in what has accepted. Standing up, he gave his fur a brief shake, deciding that it would be best to head out and begin hunting. He was well rested from the previous night's sleep, and eager to hunt for his clan, though he did not show it. Rather, he padded out of camp rather solemnly, with not so much as even a backward glance to see what his clan was up to, and walked rather pointedly into the surrounding forest.

Sunpaw made for PineClan territory, tripping at one point, but quickly regaining her balance. Her stomach growled and she reminded herself not to let clumsiness get in the way of hunting, not that she had much control over it. ((Taking this to the PineClan territory thread...))

Padding happily towards the medicine cat's den, Skypaw purred as she thought of all the secrets Speckledfrog knew and could share with her. She remembered the day she had been made his apprentice and a warm feeling crept under her fur, defying the weather. She loved the sweet scents of the herbs and the satisfaction of helping sick cats. There was no other path she could imagine walking. And that wasn't even getting into the sharing with StarClan.

Dustwater slunk out of the warriors' den, giving her pelt a good shake. Her murky green eyes darted around nervously. She had somewhere to visit today, and she wanted no cat to follow her there. Shaking her pelt out again, this time in nervousness, she bounded over to Skypaw. "You seem to be the only cat here, so I'm telling you this, assuming that you'll pass it onto the clan," she snarled, "I'm going on a hunting trip. I should be back tomorrow by sundown, but do't starve yourselves waiting for me." She then whipped around, not waiting for a response from the apprentice, and bounded out of the camp.

Bursting into camp, Needlegaze's eyes darted around. The smell of blood was all but gone now, and his panic increased as he raced around the camp, before leaping in a single bound over to Skypaw, his eyes laced with panic. "Where is Dustwater?! Where did she go? Why isn't anyone here? Did you hear the bear?!" His voice was loud, rude, demanding, but no cat could miss the panic either. It was in his eyes, his fur was standing on end, and his tail was lashing furiously behind him as he glared at the medicine cat apprentice, waiting for a response.

Sunpaw's eyes half opened, it between unconsciousness and unconsciousness. The small apprentice was aware of entering camp, the burning pain that resided at her side. Red liquid congealing and spurting anew about her. She could yowl, not even a whimper, it was as if she was paralised, though hyer body could move stifly, causing more pain. The pain was like a red blanket engulfing her, encasing her. She could not escape.

Suddenly, Dustwater was landing on the ground with a loud thud as her weakened paws hit the ground. Eyes darting around wildly, she caught sight of Skypaw, the medicine cat apprentice, the only hope for Sunpaw, and dropped the young apprentice at the feet of the growing medicine cat before taking a few staggering steps and collapsing onto her side in exhaustion and pain. Needlegaze stared in horror. The smell of blood was overpowering, sickening, and bile began to rise in his throat, which he quickly swallowed back as he raced to Dustwater's side. Panic swam in his brain. He couldn't think straight. Low, strangled whimpers rose from Dustwater's throat, and he stooped down to eye-level with her. The cat he loved, he adored, laying in the dirt. It was torture to see her like this. "Dustwater!" he mewed, raking his tonge over her flank to try and revive her, "Dustwater, are you alright?! What happened?" He gazed at her anxiously, eyes flicking back and fourth from her face to her flank as he cleaned Sunpaw's blood out of Dustwater's blue-grey pelt, drinking in her scent as he did so. Dustwater's eyes narrowed in comfort at the feeling of Needlegaze's tongue rasping over her side, cleaning the sticky blood out of her pelt, and wanted nothing more than to press her muzzle into his side, the stupid furball. But she had a facade to put up, and later, Needlegaze would be embarrassed if he displayed too much emotion, Dustwater knew that much. Raising her haid, she mewed weakly. "Quit treading on my tail, you stupid furball. There's a dying apprentice next to you, let's have this moment later, shall we?" Inside, she was yowling with amusement, she could care less if the apprentice lived or died, but right now, she had to play the part she was putting out: loyal PineClan cat. This amusement surfaced in her tone of voice, but she did her best to smother it with irritation. Needlegaze could be so mouse-brained sometimes. He thought his clan came first, but really, Dustwater was quite aware that inside, she came first, and saw nothing wrong with taking advantage of that once and a while.
Needlegaze shook his head in embarrasment. "Er, right," he mewed, turning to the young cat on the ground, bleeding perfusely. Heasitantly, he began cleaning her wounds. Her blood was thick and sticky on his tonge. Too warm, he thought, repressing a shudder as it crawled down his spine. It was all he could do for the young she-cat, for the clan. He knew if Dustwater wasn't so exhausted, she'd help him too. Somehow, Dustwater always seemed to play the hero, but never cleaned up after her messes, he realized, but quickly pushed the thought out of his mind as he continued cleaning the wounds and spitting out the blood of Sunpaw. It's because she can't be both. She's not that perfect, he thought. Still, sometimes, he thought there was something odd about Dustwater, some big part of her he was missing, yet he had known her since kithood.

Sunpaw caught sight of Needlegaze licking her wounds. The pain was numbing once more, cobwebs... she remembered that medicine cats smothered wounds with cobwebs. She gave a rasp and gasped out. "Cobwebs." So quietly she would be lucky if the warrior heard her.

Needlegaze thought he heard the apprentice say something about...cobwebs? Panic welled in his stomach, cobwebs were something only medicine cats had use for, and he was no medicine cat. He turned over to Skypaw then, eyes as big as moons, desperate. He wasn't about to show it though. He had showed enough emotion for one day, and he certainly wasn't going to ask for help. He didn't even have to be doing this, he realized, and taking a step back, snarled at Skypaw. "Well? You're a medicine cat apprentice, aren't you? Do something, you useless furball!" He hissed, glaring at her. He had to resist the urge to whap her on the back of the head with his long, fluffy tail. Instead, he spat several mouthfulls of Sunpaw's blood at a nearby tree, licking his blood-stained muzzle. Disgusting. He thought hatefully.

Sunpaw gave another gasp, paim laced through her body once more, blind terror wracking through her mind. She tried to say something, but failed; where was the medicine cat? Where?! Luckily, the wound had stopped bleeding slightly, due to her bodies natural defences, though they weren't doing much good.

blood, Ebonystar approached the apprentice slowly - but not too slowly, because Sunpaw /was/ dying. Talking a second to stare at the blood-stained apprentice, Ebonystar's gaze snapped to Needlegaze, who was tending the apprentice's wounds, and rather badly.
"What happened here? Where is the medicine cat?" Large paws beginning to soak in blood now, the black tom stood rigid as he stared at Sunpaw. Not that he had known the apprentice that well, but he /was/ clan leader now, no matter the methods of him getting up to that rank.
Ebonystar inhaled one large breath, ears searching for Speckledfrog. But all the leader could find was the horrible smell of PineClan blood, and nothing more. Even the familiar smell of the camp was gone.
