Needlegaze gave a shudder as he spat out anohther mouthfull of blood and fur that had once belonged to the dying apprentice. "I don't know. I haven't seen Speckledfrog all day long, and Skypaw over here seems to be frozen on the spot," he mewed, indicating to the medicine cat apprentice rudely with his tail tip. He was still worried about Dustwater, but made sure not to give this away, resisting the urge to run to her side.

Giving a small snort of approval, Ebonystar bent down and gave the apprentice a few rough licks with his tongue, before sitting back up, the taste in his mouth bitter and metallic. Flicking his dark tail at the frozen Skypaw, Ebonystar narrowed his listless yellow eyes. "Go get some cobwebs and put them on the apprentice, now!" His tone annoyed, mainly at the fact that he was forced to shed some of his dignity and pride. Leaders didn't normally lick dying, lowly, apprentices, no matter how great the clan's need for cats. And Ebonystar wasn't going to let go of his big headed, childish belief.
Turning his eyes for as second at the spitting Needlegaze, and then at Dustwater, Ebonystar bent down and licked Sunpaw again, a mixture of fur blood filling his mouth. Even the most thickheaded kit must knew by know that something was wrong. Red liquid drizzled into the leader's ebony muzzle and stained it, mixing in with the thick reddish fur that recently belonged to Sunpaw. Baring his pearly white teeth in annoyance for the slightest of seconds, Ebonystar quickly regained his more stoic appearance as quickly as he could. It would be hell when the other clans found out how quickly an apprentice had been injured on PineClan territory, and how the medicine cat was nowhere to be found.

Move! Do something! Anything! Her brain screamed at her as the white and brown apprentice stared at the dying apprentice, eyes wide as moons. This was her first real challenge and she was failing! All the other cats were looking to her to help and there was nothing she could do. She was letting them all down. She was letting her Clan down.
What was Skypaw waiting for?!? Here was a sick, probably dying, cat and she was just staring at it! Adderpaw's flanks still heaved for breath after the run but he wasn't aware of his tiredness - something was wrong with his sister. He scrambled to his feet and stood beside her, pressing his pelt against hers and glared fiercely at Needlegaze for daring to suggest she was useless. Skypaw was a great medicine cat! He'd seen her heal mild wounds. This was considerably bigger but she needed to help Sunpaw. His dark green gaze flickered to his dying denmate and he swallowed anxiously. "You can do it, Skypaw." He urged her quietly, "You have to. Sunpaw needs you."
Skypaw winced at her brother's words and raised her pretty blue eyes to meet his solid green gaze. She nodded tightly and gave herself a shake, unfreezing slowly. She only wished her mentor could be here to help. Where was Speckledfrog? Adderpaw's right, though. Sunpaw needs me. The apprentice padded swiftly into the medicine cat's den, emerging moments later with a paw wrapped in cobwebs and a mouth-full of herbs. She began chewing the marigold leaves into a pulp, eyes flicking to the three toms and Dustwater clustered around. "Ebonystar, I need you to lie next to Sunpaw and keep her warm. The shock will make her even colder than normal. Needlegaze, you'd better put a few cobwebs on Dustwater's wounds. I'll help in a minute. Adderpaw, could you make a couple dens for these two? They'll be sleeping here tonight." She dribbled marigold juice onto Sunpaw's wounds to ward off infections before stretching a thick bunch of cobwebs over the gaping wounds in her side. "Try to eat these. They'll help with the pain." She murmered softly to her fellow apprentice, hoping it would be enough. There was nothing more she could do for the cat. It was up to StarClan now. Picking up a few more seeds in her mouth she turned to Dustwater. "You'd better eat some too." She meowed calmly, knowing the warrior might not take kindly to being told what to do by an apprentice. Her sky-blue eyes met her brother's, who was moulding the two new dens, and she felt a small flicker of relief that he, at least, seemed unharmed.

Sunpaw licked the medicine up, it's bitter taste residing in her jaws as the heady scent filled her nose. After a few minutes, the pain dulled to a thud, it still hurt Sunpaw, but wasn't so bad. As the smell seeped swiftly up her nostrils, the apprentice felt herself drifting to sleep. She was exhausted, and cold, but that didn't stop her. Ginger lids closed, and Sunpaw slept.

"Finally, you've decided to make yourself useful!" Needlegaze mewed bitterly. He was enraged by Skypaw's slow reaction, but was careful not to show it, rather, putting on his usual act of nonchalant bitterness. Running to the medicine cat's den, he pulled out some cobwebs, rushing over to a limp Sunpaw, her body heaving unusually, and layered her side in cobwebs. He refused to lick her clean again, some other cat would have to do that. He continued to press the cobwebs into Sunpaw's fur, though they stuck stubbornly to his rough pads, and he was doing a sloppy job. Finally, he hissed in irritation, backing away from the dying apprentice. "I'm no medicine cat," he hissed coldly, "You expect me to know how to do all this?! What are you doing, Skypaw, to keep this cat safe?! Giving commands to warriors?" He spit again. The blood was mostly out, but there was still quite a lot of cat hair in his mouth, and he narrowed his eyes in disgust. He gave Dustwater a casual glance, among a series of flicks between the faces of cats, his eyes softened as he saw her grey-blue fur.
Dustwater opened her eyes to see Skypaw leaning over her, dropping something at her side, telling her to eat them. She was about to argue, but when the cat said something about healing the pain, Dustwater forgot what she was about to say and obediently chewed them, just a flicker of agitation in her eyes. I'll give her this, the cat's not totally useless once you get her going, Dustwater pondered as she chewed the strange substance. She realized they were seeds after a while, and soon enough, the sharp pain caused by the bear had turned to a dull ache. Heaving herself to her paws, she ambled over to a seemingly bitter Needlegaze and pressed her flank into his. She watched the scene while chewing her poppy seeds and waiting for Skypaw to give more orders, not that she'd be happy to follow them.

Skypaw's blue eyes flickered back to Needlegaze, hurt prominent in them. "I am helping! I gave her marigold and poppy seeds and..."She trailed off, knowing the warrior would not care, and settled down next to the sleeping Sunpaw, trying to protect her from the biting cold that hung in the air. "Dustwater, you can sleep in the nest that Adderpaw made." She told the greyish warrior, indicating to one of the nests with a flick of her tail. Adderpaw's fur bristled angirly and he took a pace forward, towards the older warrior. "Leave her alone you stupid piece of fox-dung!" He snarled, barely restraining himself from flying at Needlegaze, regardless of the obvious size and experience differences, "She's doing really well, unlike some cat I know."
The apprentice ignored a warning glance from his sister that told him to leave it be and glared at the gingery tom. He had finnished making the new nests and his feeling guilty about Sunpaw was making him even more agitated than usual.

Sitting down silently next to Sunpaw to keep the sleeping apprentice warm, Ebonystar began moving his paw around his muzzle, trying to get off the cat hairs. Sunpaw's blood had long stained the leader's face, and Ebonystar knew he would have to get to a stream soon.
Watching Sunpaw give orders with large, unmoving eyes, Ebonystar put his paw back on the ground, taking a moment to watch just and twigs stick to the damp blood-stains, then turned his sharp gaze back to Sunpaw. At least the medicine cat apprentice was /here/, unlike Speckledfrog. Flicking his tail towards Needlegaze and Adderpaw, the leader wordlessly asked for silence. No, not asked, commanded. After all, what sort of leader asked his warriors for something?
Taking a second to glance at the limp Sunpaw, Ebonystar felt her own frail heartbeat against his strong, healthy one. PineClan couldn't afford to lose more apprentices..

((Sunpaw is still sleeping by the way, obviously, but she'll probably awake soon enough...))

Needlegaze's eyes burned scathingly into Adderpaw, but he said no more, as his leader had asked for silence. When Ebonystar asks for silence, he gets silence. He knew that much, but didn't stop glaring at the apprentice, his amber eyes bitter and cold, teath barred, restraining what would have been a defeaning hiss. His fur stood on end. How dare an apprentice speak to him that way?! His angry gaze flicked over to Ebonystar, wondering what the leader would have to say about such behavior from an apprentice, especially towards an older, more experienced warrior. Dustwater gave a curt nodded to the apprentice before limping over to her makeshift nest, settling down. It really was well-made, she realized, as she settled into it, looking sleepily around the camp. What drama! It was like a fun little show, never knowing what would happen next, she realized, giving her fur a few halfhearted licks, cleaning off the spots were Sunpaw's blood had splatted onto her fur.

Adderpaw narrowed his dark, dangerously-glittering eyes further at the silent hiss, unsheathing his claws. He was more than ready to fight, even if he probably wouldn't win. Adderpaw, of course, didn't think like that but it was a fact all the same. The apprentice was on the verge of ignoring his leader and throwing another insult at Needlegaze when his sister's tail flicked up, blocking his mouth. "Thank you for defending me but it's okay. Go get some sleep now, you look tired." She mewed softly. Adderpaw forced his fur to lie flat and gave Skypaw a narrow-eyed glance before whirling away towards his den. You could argue with a sister, but you couldn't argue with a medicine cat.
Skypaw sighed quietly as her big-headed littermate stalked away. How could he think of fighting his own Clan, or even winning against an experienced warrior like Needlegaze? Sometimes she thought nothing could down-size his ego. Fixing her wide, blue eyes on Sunpaw she lifted her head once more. "Could someone please give me a hand in moving her to the other nest?" She asked, bending down to pick up one end of the apprentice with her teeth.

Grudgingly, Needlegaze stepped forward. He didn't want to leave Dustwater's side, and though he did not like being told what to do by an apprentice, he was not told this time, and he had a duty to his clan, regardless of whether he liked the cats or not. "I'll help," he growled, picking up the other end of the fragile apprentice surprisingly gently for the state of his mood, and helped Skypaw to gently set the young cat down in her makeshift den before mumbling, "Good work today, Skypaw," he paused, a stiff layer of defense forming in his amber eyes, "though at first, you weren't much help at all, you did come through in the end." He then stalked back to Dustwater, head held high, and settled down next to her, cleaning out the last flecks of blood from her fur.
"Oh, stop treading on my tail, will you?!" Dustwater mewed wearily, pulling away from Needlegaze and cleaning off her own fur, "I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself, I don't need to be cleaned like a helpless kit. Now if you'll excuse me, I need some rest. That blow the bear gave me knocked all the wind out of me, and I'm exhausted," she mewed. Really, she just liked keeping the tom on his toes, seeing his reactions when she rejected him pleased her greatly, they meant that he loved her. She then collapsed in her makeshift den, and was out cold in a matter of seconds.
Needlegaze hung his head briefly. Of course, he knew Dustwater. She was stronger than that. She didn't need any looking after. "Sorry," he mumbled, turning away, feeling inwardly dejected, though it didn't show in his peircing gaze and suddenly high-held, proud head, as he padded over to clean the blood out of his own fur.

Sunpaw opened her eyes slightly, the pain was but a dull thump, though she knew it could return if Skypaw hadn't helped her. She gave a smile at the medicine cat apprentice, pain fading in laces from her deep brown eyes.

Momentarily stunned by Needlegaze's unexpected praise, Skypaw tactfully decided to ignore the sting in it. The ginger tom rarely spoke to her at all and when he did it was normally a snide remark so this was an improvement. Skypaw bent down and touched her nose to the apprentice's ear for amoment, welcoming her back to the world of the living, before raising her head to scan camp for her brother. He would probably still be fuming. To her surprise she saw him padding towards her, a dead fish clenched between his jaws. "Adderpaw..." She began hesitantly.
"You'd better not refuse to eat this, Skypaw, I didn't get my paws wet for nothing, you know." He cut in before she could even get to the second word of her protests. "You've done a lot for the Clan today, let the Clan do something for you." With that he dropped the fish at her paws and walked over to Sunpaw, crouching down beside his younger denmate. "You okay?" He asked, gruffly, dark green eyes running over the deep scratches in her side.

Hummingsky was swimming, drowning, gasping for breath. Raking her claws against the water, she struggled for air. Suddenly, a long, glistening, rainbow fish swam up to her. Opening its mouth, it revealed a huge set of fangs, and suddenly, that's where Hummingsky was. No longer struggling. Sitting in a dark, empty space, with fangs for walls. "HELP!" she mewed frantically, eyes darting around. At that moment, a cold wind hit her face, and suddenly, all was white, cold, and harsh. Hummingsky could feel her pelt being raked at by the harsh wind, and snowlfakes slammed into her sensitive eyeballs. Instinctivley, she closed her eyes, temporarily blinded by the wet snow. "NO!" she yowled. All around in the darkness of her eyes, she could see nothing but dark water. Suddenly, from this water, cats emerged. More and more, leaping from the wetness, and then dissolving into nothing, sending a spray of shapless droplets of watter raining down on her. Immediatley after, piercing words then flooded the area, dulling all other senses, and making Hummingsky forget that the wind and snow around her was prbably ripping out her fur. In a fierce, high-pitched yowl, a prophecy sounded: "Bold and striking Arriving from beyond the sand Bringing with it death A new permanent threat Look for it in the water"
And suddenly, Hummingsky's eyes were wide open, her body writhing on the ground in pain, claws scrabbling, scraping, digging into the ground below. StarClan was gone, but the dream remained, a clear image in her mind. "Look for it in the water" what had it meant?

Needlegaze heard a scrabbling from a nearby den, and gave his chest fur a few more neat licks before heading towards it. His eyes betrayed no irritation, his body held high and proud as usual, but he was deeply annoyed inside. What is it now?! He thought. The clan had had quite enough drama for one day, he thought. He knew because he had actually displayed emotion. That wasn't an everyday thing. "What is it?" He mewed matter-of-factly, surprised to see the state of the cat, anxiety filling her whole body. He glanced up at the darkening sky, and again at the cat. She was a mess, and he held back a hiss of irritation at her frantic state. It was, after all, just a dream.
