Ashpaw nodded and continued to JaggedClan territory. [Going to the territory board...]

[Back, yo! :D] Ashpaw emerged into camp with the scrawny falcon clutched in his jaws. Heading over to the fresh kill pile, he dropped his catch and selected a small bird from the pile, then headed over to a shady spot at the edge of camp to eat.

Yewstorm walked over to the fresh-kill pile, then took the falcon Bonepaw and Ashpaw had bought back. Bonepaw was an apprentice again? But she only had one night in the nursery, it was hardly enough punishment! Sinking her black head into the bird, the warrior - deputy waved her black and brown tail behind her, watching as her apprentice returned from hunting. She would have to take him out sometime, no matter how much she may despise him. Actually, now was as good a time as ever, and it was best to get such unpleasant things over with as soon as possible.
"Finish your bird, Ashpaw, then meet me at the camp entrance. We're going on patrol." The she-cat's voice was only a small hiss, full of venom and overall dislike. After informing Ashpaw of his duty, Yewstorm didn't even wait for the apprentice's reply before walking over to the camp entrance and sitting there, waiting for Ashpaw.

Ashpaw finished the bird in one last gulp and strode over to the camp entrance, hoping that Yewstorm's prejudice wouldn't get in the way of his hunting, personally, he was proud to be born away from the clan, it was different, and he was glad to see tat many cats were joining from the Lands of Soot, other clans, elsewhere.

"I don't know," Bonepaw admitted, shaking her head. It was all too odd, she decided. It would be good to tell Wildstar about it. Dropping her bird in the fresh kill pile, relieved to be back in camp, she darted over to where her leader was sitting, scraping every ounce of meat off the bones of a small mouse. "Wildstar," she mewed, remembering just in time to dip her head to her leader.
Wildstar looked up in surprise at the return of Bonepaw and Stormcloud, and purred in delight. They had their first training session. Wildstar couldn't wait to hear how it went! "Ah, Bonepaw, Stormcloud! Great to see you! How'd the training go?" she mewed invitingly, indicating with her tail that the two should sit down. As Bonepaw looked up, she was surprised to spot concern in the she-cats face. "It was great, but we saw something in SandClan!" she mewed in sudden, uncontained excitement. She babbled on, "Cats were fighting! Lots of them! And they were running out of PineClan to help! And it looked like a big battle! What if it has something to do with the prophecy?!" Wildstar felt her eyes bulge, and turned quickly to Stormcloud for conformation. "Stormcloud, is this true?" she mewed, not a trace of skepticism in her voice. It sounded to her like SandClan and PineClan were finally having a battle over the long disputed Sand-Pine territory. This wasn't an unlikley battle, and in private, JaggedClan and SnowClan had always waited expectantly for such a fight to break out.
Bonepaw bounced up and down. She desperatley wanted to confirm the information, then race down to SandClan territory and fight the battle herself, but she knew it was not her place, and instad, glanced up at her mentor, excitement burning in her lavender eyes to see what he had to say about it. Of course, he had not actually seen the battle, and it occured to her that the two cats might not believe her, which just made her fidget in impatience more.
Pepperpaw padded over to where Bonepaw, Wildstar, and Stormcloud were standing, listening expectantly to their conversation, and hoping they woudln't kick her out. It was, after all, the buisness of the whole clan if a battle was raging right next to them, and she felt entitled as a reluctant participant of the conversation. She sat very straight and proud, her head held high in a self-authoritarian way as she listened to her idiot sister and her under-aged mentor report what they had seen.

Trotting weakly across the clan camp, Bluepaw lifted her head up and glanced around. Her dull blue eyes widened at Bonepaw's report, a shiver running right through her entire body. Quivering in horror, she wobbled away in search of her brother, Smogpaw, who sat casually listening to the conversing cats; waiting for something interesting to happen. Looking up in much surprise, the black and white tom hurried over to his sister and covered her in gentle licks. "My dear sister, what is wrong?" His lime green eyes sparkled in concern, crooked tail twitching anxiously. "Smogpaw, brother, I h-h-hear that S-s-s-andClan and PineClan are waging war!" Bluepaw stuttered a reply, brushing up against him. Smogpaw relaxed, shoulder falling. "Do not fear, my sister. Their differences shall not interfere with our peaceful lives."

Stormcloud waited for his apprentice to finish her report, sitting quietly behind her with his tail tucked neatly under his paws. It was only when Wildstar spoke to him that he lifted his eyes from the smaller black and white cat to meet those of his leader. "I didn't see it myself because -" Here the dark gold tom stopped for a moment, twitching an ear in embarressment, "-well, I didn't. At first I thought it sounded like a PineClan-SandClan battle and I wouldn't have been suprised if it was but Bonepaw seems certain that PineClan were running to help." Stormcloud paused to look down at his new apprentice with a warm blink. "I believe her."

At this idea, Wildstar nearly gave a loud mrrow of laughter. PineClan helping SandClan?! It didn't seem likley. Then again, if Stormcloud believed Bonepaw... "What makes you think so, Stormcloud?" she mewed, tilting her head to one side. She was curious to know what tugged the confidence of the tom at Bonepaw's idea that PineClan was helping.
Bonepaw felt that she was going to explode from the excitement, and looked up, eyes burning, at her mentor, waiting like a ticking bomb form an answer. She didn't know why she was so impatient. Maybe it was because she had never seen or been in a battle before; maybe it was the fact that something was happening in SandClan when that was clearly the area mentioned by the prophecy. Either way, her belly was churning with excitement, heart pounding. She could hardly contain herself, and she was trying very hard not to yowl loudly and dart around the camp, tongue lolling like a frenzied dog pup.
Pepperpaw was not liking the direction this conversation was going. How could these cats even consider the fact that PineClan might actually be helping SandClan?! She repressed a hiss, knowing it would look bad to the clan, and instead, gave her sister a dirty look. The idiotic white and black cat was currently dancing around like a kit on cat mint. Resisting the urge to spit, she looked the other way, only to throw another dirty glare at Bluepaw. The good-for-nothing cripple was getting all the attention from her brother again! All the cats of JaggedClan were so kind to her, and what did she do for them? Well, nothing but slow them down and make things hard, as far as Pepperpaw was concerned, and she snarled at the siblings before turning back to glare at the three cats before her, deep in discussion about ridiculous fantasies. Why was it that a useless, sickly cat got more recognition than her, a great, talented apprentice, wise beyond her years, just because she wasn't clan-born? Blinded by her own self-conciousness, by her own fears and nightmares, Pepperpaw was, as usual, blocking out reality; twisting and contorting it until it looked just like what she feared most.

Bluepaw herself lowered at the sight of Pepperpaw's glare. "A-a-ah, brother..I will be retreating back to the den..." As usual, she slept in the Medicine Den. Smogpaw sighed, before padding back over to Pepperpaw and the others. "Do not think I didn't see that glare, Pepperpaw." He snorted warningly, crooked tail twitching once more. His ears flattened against his head, fur puffing out slightly. Flexing his barely used claws, he shuffled back over to Wildstar, Stormcloud, and Bonepaw. "PineClan, working with SandClan? How absurd." He meowed under his breath, taking a seat before them. Was it a trick to get the other clans nervous and unprepared? He didn't know.

Stormcloud paused a moment to gather his thoughts. Why did he believe her? He hadn't actually seen it, he'd been too wrapped up in memories of his incompetence to bother to even listen until they were too far away to hear any battle-yowls. And PineClan and SandClan were mortal enemies, surely they wouldn't be helping? Still, Bonepaw had said that and, although she was a little hyper, she didn't lie. "Well, PineClan and SandClan have been fighting for seasons about the Pine-Sand place but it's never taken them right onto the beach before. And Bonepaw says SandClan were already fighting when PineClan came. Unless there's some kind of trechery in SandClan, PineClan were either assisting them or assiting their enemy." The tom reasoned, half to convince himself. Was this possible? Or was he just trying to make up for his frozen time at the cliff edge? [/color]

Bonepaw felt a prickle of embarassment as she overheard Smogpaw hiss at Pepperpaw. Why was her sister so cruel? Anger burning in her chest, she gave her sister a horrible glare before glancing sadly at Bluepaw, who was slipping into the empty medicine cat's den, and sighed. When would they get a new medicine cat? The clan desperatley needed one, especially in Bluepaw's fragile state. She then heard Smogpaw mutter under his breath about how ridiculous her idea was. She then saw the skepticism in her mentor's face. She couldn't take it any more then, she felt like she was going to explode. In a sense, she did. "OH YOU MOUSE-BRAINS!" she cried, burying her head in her paws. She then picked herself back up again, as quickly as she had dropped to the ground, and began bouncing. "If you don't believe, come to the border and see for yourself! Why sit here talking about something you haven't even seen?!"
Pepperpaw hissed under her breath at Smogpaw. He was so overprotective, and she turned her nose to him, giving him a dismissive flick of the tail. She was suddenly filled with anger as her sister began acting like a complete mouse-brain, yet, calling them such, and she hissed loudly. No one called her a mouse-brain! She was smart! She was useful! Just because she wasn't clan-born? That didn't mean she couldn't be great! Fur fluffing out in anger, she listened to her sister's frenzied rant in annoyed fascination. How did a sibling of hers become so...different from her? Why did she get all the wit, intelligence, and responsibility of clan-born cats, while her sister was so horrible? Blinded once again by her arrogance and self-conciousness, she gave a small sniff of pity for her sister. This flicker of emotion didn't last long.
Wildstar nodded at Stormcloud's response, completley unaware of the arguments going on between the JaggedClan apprentices. She was about to open her mouth in response when Bonepaw gave an explosive yowl and began ranting. Eyes widening in surprise, then narrowing, as she saw even more of herself in the apprentice, she listened patiently until the she-cat's suspense-enduced rant was completed. "Bonepaw has a point," she mewed as if the apprentice hadn't just insulted them all and yelled in their faces, "we should go see for ourselves," knowing Stormcloud's fear, she turned to him then, and mewed softly, "We won't blame you if you do not wish to go. I know how hard it must be for you to return there," her eyes were kind and understanding. Anyways, it would be good to have a cat guard the camp while they spied on SandClan's territory.
Pepperpaw hissed in disbelief at her leader's words. How could she be such a mouse-brain? Why did she ingore Bonepaw's rude words?! She would have never gotten away with such a reaction! She got dissed for glaring at useless cats, and her sister could yowl that the whole clan was mouse-brains and no cat would even flich! It wasn't fair, and her stance showed what she thought of the situation. Honestly, she was ready to claw her sister's fur off and throw her off the edge of the border. She could see it now. Her sister's body would hit the ground with a defeaning thud. Pepperpaw would call down then, "How's the view from down there? Can you see it better?" she'd then cackle at the broken body below, and pad away, all evidence of the crime gone.

Smogpaw leaned backwards just a bit, clearly surprised by her spontaneously out-burst. "I...suppose," He gave a mild shrug, lime green eyes darting back and forth nervously. At times, Bonepaw can be quite the odd one, "though..." He paused this time, concentrating deeply. He knew almost everything there is to know about the other clans, though not this. PineClan and SandClan? Next thing you know, Hedgehogs would be flying! What about those odd new cats? Something about them made Smogpaw shiver, though he had never seen them. Perhaps he could ask Bluepaw; she usually knew what calmed him down when he couldn't understand something.

Go! Say you'll go! You can handle it. Just go! prove to everyone that you can do it, once and for all. Stormcloud raged at himself inwardly but all that came out of his mouth was a hoarse "Thank you". Burning with embaressment, Stormcloud dipped his head to excuse himself and took up the customary gurad position by the entrance to camp. Coward! You can't even go near a cliff anymore!

Narrowing her eyes in kindness and understanding at the warrior, Wildstar's gaze mingled on his face for a moment, trying to read his expression, before turning back to her clan. "Right," she mewed decisively, "Who's coming then? Bonepaw, you certainly are. And what about you? Pepperpaw? Smogpaw, Bluepaw..." realizing that Yewstorm and Ashpaw were out training, she purred at the thought that it would be just her and some apprentices, the cats she related to most.
Bonepaw nodded in excitement. She could have leaped out of her skin in excitement, but the mood was spoiled quickly by the horrible scowl on her sister's face. "No thank you, Wildstar," the black and white she-cat mewed icily, "I think I'll stay here and help guard the camp." Bonepaw watched in sorrow as her sister whipped around, nose in the air, tail high, and stormed away to stand a few fox-lengths from Stormcloud, as if not daring to be seen with him. At that moment, Bonepaw wondered sadly if her and her sister had ever acted kindly towards each-other.
Pepperpaw was outraged at Wildstar's invitation, and stormed away, nose high. Why would she accompany a bunch of immature brats and a hardly qualified leader to go spy on another clan? That was no buisness of hers! She was fuming, feeling Bonepaw's sad gaze prickle annoyingly at her fur. Why did her sister have to be such a wuss?!
