SnowClan is located at the peak of a towering mountain. It's made of cold, hard stone, but it's gently sloping sides and smooth walls make for an easy climb. The farther up you go, the colder and snowier it gets.
Along the PineClan border, the rock is broken by patches of dirt where small, feeble pine trees grow. Eventually, the trees get larger. Where there is no more mountain rock is where the PineClan border starts and the SnowClan border stops. Though there are not many pine trees in SnowClan, cats can get the occasional vole or sparrow that has wandered onto the foot of the mountain from PineClan territory.
Along the JaggedClan border, the mountain slopes gradually until it comes to a thin strip of land. Across this land, small stones start to poke out from the ground. This is where JaggedClan territory starts. The thin strip is no cat's land, either clan can go onto it, but it is not used very often. Sometimes it's used on the way to or from the knotted tree.
The mountain itself has a few shrubs at the base, but further up, there are no plants to speak of. Various goats and a small lynxes or mountain lions reside below the camp, but on the opposite side of the mountain. On occasion, a patrol may be sent out to go kill and bring back a goat kit or something of the sort, but they must work together to kill it. It will last a good amount of time, and feed many clan members, though it's not that tasty.
Birds are also a good source of food, and easy to catch. Apprentices are taught methods on catching them from a young age.
During newleaf, a small amount of snow will melt, forming a thin trickle of water down one side of the mountain. Other times, cats simply melt snow with their bodies and lap up the remaining water.
Hunting Tip
These cats can hunt birds, by leaping into the air or off legdges, and bring them down to bring back to the clan. But they can also trick mountain lions.
This is much easier to do than trying to catch a full grown goat on their own. There are many ways to do this. A popular way is to simply bring a patrol out and wait until the lion kills something. Then a cat will attack the lion, causing a distraction. While a small amount of them fight with the lion, mostly by evading it than really trying to hurt it, another group takes the prey that the lion killed. The group fighting the lion then flees when the group with the prey is far enough away that the lion won't find them, and runs in the opposite direction of the camp. They then head back once they've lost the lion. It's risky, and is usualy an all-day operation.
