Tarsen laid down beside Tizzy, resting his sleek tortoiseshell head on the flooor of the boat and letting the sea bring sleep. Rocking his mind into a slumber, the air wafting it's wa into his mind, numbing hid thoughts to a whisper of dreams.
The tom gave one small flicker of an eye before falling in a deep, heavy sleep.

As if it had been only moments, Tizzy's eyes flew open as something icy cold sloshed against her flank. Bright light shone down, the ground was rocking slightly. Where was she?! Standing up, she gazed around in alarm, fur on end, before making the slow realization that she was on the boat. The previous day came rushing back to her, and she sighed. What a day it had been!
Glancing around, she realized where the sloshing had come from. The boat was rocking, and some water had spilled over the edge. It glistened on the floor of the boat, and she leaned down, taking a tentative lick of it. It was bitter and harsh, with a salty tang. She missed the sweet taste of water on land, but apparently, this was all she was getting, so she drank from it until the puddle was gone.
Her stomach gave another lurch, and deciding she must be hungry, Tizzy padded softly away from Tarsen, trying not to disturb him as she poked her head over the edge of the boat, scrutinizing the water with round, black eyes.
A shimmering figure caught her eye, and her paw darted out to it, the icy chill of the ocean as shocking as ever. She brought the thing up, slapping it on deck, and watched it flip around insanely for a while, before slaying it with an unsheathed claw. This one wasn't as diseased as last time, and she was pleased with it, as it looked quite plump and healthy. She caught two more, piling them up at one end of the boat, and taking the first for herself. Tarsen could have one when he woke up, she decided, taking a bite into hers, and savoring its ocean tang.

[[Soon! ^^ Should Arlen and Aria just be on default 'till someone adopts them?]] Tarsen was welcome the next sun by a salty scent, close by. He opened one eye, then jumped up, yesterday coming back in such acute detail it was as if he were living it again.
The tom quite sight of Tizzy and smiled, noticing that her belly was rounder than usual, figuring it was because prey was healthier and commoner here, he helped himself to the fish she had caught, curling his tail in silent contentment.

Tizzy purred as her mate woke up. Padding over to him, she gave his shoulder a quick lick, "G'morning, Tarsen," she mewed with a purr, "I caught some fish, if you'd like to eat," she then gestured toward the pile of fresh kill, their sleek bodies glinting in the cold sunlight, before padding back to her fish and sitting down.
She was just about to take another bite of her own fish when she felt a sickening pang of pain in her stomach. Pushing the fish away with one paw, she stood up, somewhat lightheaded, and staggered over to Tarsen. The pain was getting worse every moment!
"T-Tarsen...I...I"
She collapsed on her side then. Flanks heaving rapidly, she gave a caterwaul of pain. She was about to give birth...
- - - - -
She stared at the kits. Their tiny bodies writhed on the floor of the boat as they suckled, the warm, sweet milk dribbling down their jaws. Tizzy counted them again. Seven. Seven healthy, sweet-smelling kits laid at her size. Tizzy, exhausted, but proud, gazed upon them, wide black eyes staring lovingly at their tiny forms. Their tiny paws. Their, clean, soft bodies, littered with thin, whispy strands of fur. She sighed.
"I suppose now we have to name them," she mewed to Tarsen, flicking his leg with her tail. Gesturing to one rather twitchy kit, she added, "I was thinking Elektra for this one--doesn't he look like you?" she added. He had tortoiseshell fur, deep and rich.
Sighing again, Tizzy purred. If this isn't perfection, I don't know what is, she thought to herself, as she wrapped her long tail around the kits as a gust of cold wind rocked the boat.

Tarsen smiled lovingly at the seven kits, their delicate features, closed eyes, ears of shell pink lightness... He purred, a rumbling sound deep in his throat, eyes narrowed. "Elektra," He repeated, nodding in agrrement, then he turned to a dusty caramel she-kit with chocolate tabby stripes, lying next to a fluffy white, ginger and brown tortoiseshell tom, "Twine and Nectar?" He asked Tizzy, the three names echoing around in his head like the waves outside, he gazed at the sevn beautiful kits, a throb of warmth pounding in his chest, despite the cool sea spray.

♫ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >> Tizzy felt excitement pulse through her as Tarsen suggested two names for the next two kits. A beautiful golden she-cat called Nectar. Perfect. Tizzy could almost see herself, calling out to the cat as she grew older.
'Nectar, your turn for fishing!' 'Nectar, what did I just tell you?' 'Nectar, stop bothering your sister!'
Tizzy purred in amused excitement at her fantasy, nodding at Tarsen's suggestion. And Twine. A perfect name! She gave a mrrow of delight. Naming was fun!
"Pinecone--no, no, Ambriosa, for this one!" she mewed, pointing to a gorgeous white, red, and black tom, "And," she added, "In memory of the lands we came from, a warrior name for him," she added, prodding another kit with her tail, "Dappledspirit."

The small body mewled, the new born baby started to suckle on her mother's stomach, along with her other siblings. The unnamed kit pushed her paws against her mothers stomach lightly, lightly pushing with one paw and then the other to get some milk. The she-kit stopped and then mewled. Atleast half her other siblings have been named. The small kit went back to suckling, as some milk ran down her jaw. Oopsies.

Tarsen nodded, a purr darting swiftly throughout his tone, he gave the one closest a fatherly nuzzle as Nectar scrambled for milk, wispy fur smooth against her back, she settled next to her unnamed sibling, pawing her mother's stomach. Tarsen paused, then smiled and collected the largest fish Tizzy had caught, sleek and plump, he latched it between his jaws, then let it slide out to his mate, shifting a slender silver one in front of himself and taking a large bite, unusual tortoiseshell fur moving with the rhythm of his eager breath.

Unseeing, small and helpless but already enjoying life, was the newly-named Dappledspirit. If this was life, this was great! Warmth, milk and all the family he could want all pressed in on him. And there was that strange sensation in his nose, some sharp tang that he loved at once. The tom snuggled deeper against his siblings and mother, content as could be.

♫ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >> Tizzy purred at Tarsen's gesture, taking a small, weak bite of the fish he'd pushed toward her. Chewing thoughtfully, she examined one kit, a small she-cat with a gorgeous fur pattern. Swallowing, Tizzy decided her name. "That one...she can be Aria," she mewed, pointing her tail to the tiny she-cat. Previously namelss, the cat now had definition. This satisfied Tizzy.
"And," she added, "Finally, this little guy--" here, she prodded a calico tom with her tail, "--can be named Arlen,"
Seven names. Seven kits. A family of nine now. It would be a lot of work, Tizzy knew. A lot to remember, a lot to learn--but she was up for it. As she watched the seven tiny kits suckle, she gave yet another sigh--a sigh of contentment and happiness.

Elektra squirmed. It was strange. Inside, he felt so calm, yet he could not stop moving. He found that if he concentrated on suckling, letting his mother's warm, sweet milk dribble down his jaw every now and then when it didn't quite make it down his throat, while giving a mew every now and then and swishing his tail, he could calm down his seemingly needed movements considerably. Close by, he felt the pelts of two siblings brushing against his. There were so many smells--something tangy and bitter, something sweet, something framiliar and warm, and countless others, that the young tom could not keep track of them all, and they floated though his brain, being engrained in his memory.

Tarsen purred, a sound that rumbled with sound practically all the time. "Our kits," He meowed, delightedly, glancing at Tizzy, swallowing down another chunk of his fish, "I wonder where they'll end up..." He paused, pondering, maybe the kits would stay on the boat... maybe not. Tarsen smiled as he realised that the kits would have to be taught like apprentices, so he and Tizzy would probably share that job, the thought sent his mind awhirl with happiness as he inhaled the scent of his kits, the sea, Tizzy. Life was brilliant, and his was no exception.

♫ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >> Tizzy nodded excitedly in agreement. "Our kits!" She then gave each in turn an affectionate lick on the head. They were so beautiful, all of them. Sighing, she glanced up at Tarsen, who seemed to have that blissful look on his face, and purred.
"They'll have to be taught," she mewed, unkowingly echoing his thoughts, "Oh, I just won't know where to start! Fishing, I suppose--though, I'm probably getting a bit ahead of myself."
She then took a bit of the fish, chewing thoughtfully.

Elektra sat up. This was much better, and he began tapping his tail to the rythm of the waves against the wooden boat against the board on which he sat. With every creak of the wood caused by the churning waves came a tap of his tail. It was much easier to sit still this way, and he pricked his ears, listening for all the sounds around him, and parted his jaws, tasting the salty scent of the ocean.
What a curious world.

Ambriosa yowled in contempt as his brother sat up. He liked it better when Elektra was down next to him. It kept him warm! Shivering in the cold, he gave another loud yowl of complaint and suckled more ferociously, pushing his siblings on either side away. He was in a cranky mood, and not afraid to show it!
Giving another cranky yowl, he squirmed. Why wouldn't Elektra come back?! He was getting colder by the heartbeat! And he would nestle into whichever cat was on his other side, except that the thought of them getting more of his mother's sweet milk than him irritated him.

The kit kept suckling, but stopped to hear the yowl of her sibling, Ambriosa. She mewled and then crawled over to him instead of the stomach, and crawled ontop of her brother and laid across him. She mewled again before she rested herself, still layin ontop of her sibling, Abriosa. Aria mewled once more. This.. was oddly comfy to Aria.

Mewling in blind concern as the sister beside him squirmed away to somewhere where he couldn't follow yet. So, he simply shuffled nearer to the next sibling and gave them a friendly lick. Something moved over to his right and he supposed one of his siblings must have gotten up. That was a fun idea! The brown, black and white tom struggled up into a sitting position and tensed at the feeling of being unbalanced before shaking off his little pelt and giving a small, happy mew of triumph. I'm sitting up, mom, look at me!
