Riverstone jumped up as Garnetstorm wriggled out of his grip. His head turned to see Stormcloud chasing after the apprentice, but Thornclaw was right behind him. "Stormcloud, behi-" His sentence was cut off when Garnetstorm leaped outo his back, raking his claws along it. He let out a deep growl. "Mousebrain!" He hissed and rolled onto his back. He was some-what larger than the tomcat. He rolled on him, his claws raked his side.
He leaped up, curling his lips and spitting. He never felt any rush of adrenaline, the power was just always there. His tail lashed behind him, as if teasing Garnetstorm to try his luck. "If we keep on fighting, we'll all join StarClan!" He hissed a loud. With that he let out a yowl that even Sandclan could hear. Blood trickled from his shoulder and mouth, his back also had some nasty wounds.

ooc// I want her to get back, like, after they've had a bit of a fight...I want her to get slightly wounded and things, so perhaps he should unsheath his claws. ^^
Phoenixpaw hissed as she was flung sideways, and she lie limp for a moment, winded. She breathed heavily, trying to get air through her lungs. Her heart was beating faster now, but it was only from the adrenalin of the fight. She scrambled to her paws, and flattened her ears on the back of her head. She had had her claws sheathed for running, but with a scraping metallic sound, she drew them and leaped for Stormcloud. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Thornfire bounding towards them, and she was silently relieved that another warrior was helping her. She outstretched her claws, and slipped round the back of Stormcloud, skidding in the snow. She then whiplashed a claw out onto his flank, drawing blood. She then turned tail and skidded with her back feet, spraying the JaggedClan warrior with blindingly white snow. She hissed in defiance.
ooc// Sorry for the shortness. --despair--

The ashen tom had almost no time--or breath--to yowl as he soared throught he air, landing with a numbing thud on the stone ground. Hissing ferociously, he sat up. His head throbbed and his nose bled--it had been a hard fall, but he refused to give up. If you give up, you'll never be clan leader! That was all he needed to encourage himself.
Almost at once, he had summoned all the strength in his borad, muscular body, and was releasing bunched muscles to fly through the air at Heavyheart. Claws unsheathed, forelegs extended, he hoped to land upon the SnowClan tom while he was still on his back, vulnerable pink belly exposed. His head was whrring with emotion and the confusion that came with battle, but one word echoed through his mind when he saw Heavyheart, belly turned to face the air: 'mousebrain'.
Oh, he hoped he'd land before Heavyheart had gotten up.

Riverstone's warning was whipped away by the wind before it reached Stormcloud's ears and he was too intent on halting Phoenixpaw's race that he didn't hear the pawsteps behind him. When she was down he tried again, "I can't let you go for help." He growled, looming over her, "Stop - " The next moment she had capered around him and kicked snow in his eyes. The sting on his flank told him that her claws had also been busy and as he shook the snow from his eyes he saw his blood pepper down into a intricate pattern on the snowy floor. This erased all his desires to restrain her non-violently. The golden tom snarled angrily and unsheathed his claws, flexing them slightly.
Pretending to be blinded by the snow she'd kicked at him, he staggered about before suddenly lashing out with a forepaw to bring his claws slicing through her side, from flank to shoulder. He pushed down the flicker of guilt at attacking a younger cat and raced about behind her so that he was blocking the way to SnowClan camp. Unless something drastic happened, she wouldn't be getting back. There was no way he'd let her get help for the mangy furballs who'd attacked the JaggedClan patrol.

Wavestar
Thornfire hissed in frustration as his aim at Stormcloud's tail missed. Narrowing his eyes, the warrior snarled, leaping again at Stormcloud, closer now, shooting like an arrow from a bow at the warrior's back, claws gleaming like glass fragments of the moon, chipped off it's silver surface. Thornfire's tail lashed as he slid silently through the air, it had been just half a second, but in battle all seemed slow and noiseless, except the blood pumping furiously in his veins. -- Garnetstrom spat at Riverstone's words, "Your giving up?" He sneered, more scornful than he felt, "I thought JaggedClan had more courage than to surrender so easily." With that, the warrior leapt at his opponent once more, his mind was awhir with adrenalin, but the usual, cheerful Garnetstorm, replaced by this feral creature, driven on by ferocity.

Stormcloud paused for a second. He heard something. The tom raised his head, quickly and quizzically, only to see Thornfire soaring through the air toward him. There was no time to duck. all he managed was a startled but pained snarly-yowl sound as the tom crashed into his, needle-sharp claws piercing his flank, shoulder and stomach. the impact knocked him to the snow where he lay panting breathlessly for a moment, trying to gather his scattered wits. where had Thornfire come from? Pain seared through the tom along with alarm, had he been lying down for too long? Had he given that pesky apprentice time to escape? Would he feel Thornfire's claws in his side now? Anxious to avoid all of those things (especially the last), Stormcloud threw himself back to his paws, hissing.
He stared around, trying to locate Thornfire. The tom remained light on his paws, shifting his weight constantly so that he could execute a swift dodge at a moment's notice.

"I never said that!" He growled and his eyes blazed with anger. He watched as Garnetstorm leaped towards him and dodged his attack. His waited for the tom to hit the ground for his jump.
Riverstone ran as fast as he could towards Garnetstorm. As he lowered his head he kept a good watch on Garnetstorm. He hit him with full force. He pinned him down and put a paw on his throat. "Now, I am sure you will give up, or do I have to rip out your insides?" he hissed. He raised a paw, claws unsheathed, ready to whack his head.
(Sorry, it's short.)

Thornfire stood, body light and flexibly as his tail lashed behind him. The tom watched Stormcloud warily, he wasn't going to fight him... unless the JaggedClan warrior attacked, His eyes flickered to SnowClan territory, Pheonixpaw wasn't yet out of it, was she? She snow was beginning to get caught in his fur, racing past his eyes in short, small flurries. He inwardly grimaced as he realised that he might not reach Stormcloud, without as much adrenalin as a certain SnowClan furbrain he wasn't as fast as he had been a moment ago, Strmcloud, however was probably ready to go, despite his wounds, Thornfire assumed, anyway. ---- Garnetstorm snarled, his face a contortion of glistening teeth and hard, ferocious golden eyes. He lashed his tail in anger as he felt the paw on his neck, "I won't surrender," He taunted, then, realising that wasn't exactly the cleverest thing to do, you pushed upwards with no warning, unsheathed back legs flying at his opponents belly in an attempt to free himself.

Stormcloud's breathing tightened as he looked at Thornfire, fury flaring up in his pale mint green eyes. How dare that patrol attack them? They had done nothing wrong! It was unclaimed territory and JaggedClan and SnowClan were nearly always peaceful. It was PineClan and SandClan that killed each other as soon as scented them. Stormcloud did not move though, preferring not to get his flanks scratched into crowfood anymore, but he did throw a glance over at Phoenixpaw.
She hadn't gotten up yet and was bleeding heavily from the scratch he'd delivered that ran the length of one whole side. In fact, she wasn't moving much at all. It might be a feint though, and Stormcloud was weary of approaching her to see, knowing that Thornfire would attack if he made any move toward the fallen apprentice. This time Stormcloud didn't let himself feel guilty though. He had asked nicely, and although he appreciated that the SnowClan apprentice wouldn't have taken orders from him in a million years, she could have just returned to the fight. He looked at her bleeding form again. she wouldn't be returning for help now. Good, he thought, and told himself he meant it.

Phoenixpaw yowled with pain as the claws came slashing through her side, and tottered sideways. Blood from a cut on her forehead seeped down in front of her eyes. Blinking back the blood, she could just about make out a warrior blocking the way to SnowClan territory, let alone camp. Her side throbbed, and it bled continuously, the crimson treacle turning the white snow scarlet. Her amber eyes flamed as she saw Heavyheart and another JaggedClan warrior locked in combat, and her eyes flickered to where Thornfire and Stormcloud were circling each other, sizing each other up. Phoenixpaw suddenly felt as if all her energy had been drained, and she fell limp, collapsing on the snow. Strangled breaths left her body, and she closed her eyes. She could feel her life ebbing away. Everything was blurred, and nothing seemed to matter any more. She thought she saw Garnetstorm out of the corner of her barely opened eye, but she then closed them completely, blocking out all light. Her breaths became shorter. She gasped as racks of pain began traveling through her body. She thought she could feel light snow falling softly onto her pelt, but no sounds of battle reached her ears. I'm dying... she thought numbly. I'm actually dying... Her eyes flickered open. The snow was falling more thickly than before. No sounds could be heard. Phoenixpaw abruptly sat up. The wound in her side was gone. All the scratches on her body were gone. Where am I? she wondered, getting to her paws. She felt no tiredness of battle, no adrenalin rush. Her thoughts were clear. Yet as she looked around, it was clear she was not where the battle had been happening. "Hello?" she meowed distantly into the fog that surrounded the small hollow she was in. Everything was white, the soft snow falling in blankets. Pine trees surrounded Phoenixpaw, yet she did not recognize where she was. Is this what its like to be dead?, she wondered. Perhaps she had come to StarClan? She pricked up her ears. She thought she could hear something... She whirled round. And froze. A cat was coming towards her out of the thick pine forest surrounding her. The cat's paws made no sound what so ever on the thick snow, nor did they make any pawprints. Instead, a twinkling trail of stars lay behind the warrior as it padded towards her. The cat's thick white tabby pelt had not one speck of dust on it, and it seemed to be glowing, the fantastic light filling the darkened clearing. The warrior's eyes were a soft amber, full of knowing and calm. "Hawkflight?" Phoenixpaw whispered. Because it was indeed her old mentor coming towards her across the snow. "But..." "Peace, little one," the warrior murmured, sweeping the tip of his thick tail across her lips. Phoenixpaw sat down, dazed at the sight of her old friend. She realised she must be in StarClan. "Am I dead?" she whispered, finding it hard to disturb the utter silence in the little hollow. The snow continued to fall, but not one snowflake appeared on Hawkflight's pelt. The large warrior chuckled. "No." he meowed, his voice deep and echoing around the clearing. "But.." Phoenixpaw meowed, finding it easier and easier to break the silence. "Where am I?" Hawkflight seemed to know what the question would be. "You are in a place hardly any cat has ever come to visit," he meowed, his eyes glowing warmly. Phoenixpaw still didn't understand. She felt no cold ebbing onto her bones, it was pleasantly warm for a snow covered hollow. I must be dreaming, she thought, staring at her old mentor. "Are you afraid to die?" Hawkflight asked, his voice still soothing and calm. Phoenixpaw hesitated. If this was dying, she wasn't afraid at all. But she suddenly thought of Raindance, and Heavyheart, and Thornfire, and Moonstar...And all the other cats of SnowClan. Would they simply carry on normal Clan life? Would they miss her at all? "No," she replied carefully, feeling as though she was back in the SnowClan forest, and her mentor was testing her. "But I am afraid for the cats I leave behind." "Wise words, little one," whispered Hawkflight, still standing. His pelt glowed like a bright flower in a field of gray grass. Phoenixpaw wondered again why she was here, but the thought passed numbly through her brain. In the hollow, it seemed like everything was at peace. No sound of rustling branches caught her ears, no sounds of prey running about under bushes. No bird song. Hawkflight was silent for a moment. Then he moved closer to Phoenixpaw, and she closed her eyes, wishing she could be in this moment forever. "Be strong, little one." Hawkflight whispered, laying his chin on her head, as if making a new warrior. Phoenixpaw felt a burst of energy, and the sound of Hawkflight's breathing grew fainter and fainter, until everything was black and silent.
"No!" Heavyheart yowled in disbelief, as he saw Phoenixpaw lay utterly still in the snow laden grass. His eyes blazed, and he kicked up his four paws as the warrior came crashing into him, and he flung him sideways. Scrambling to his paws, Heavyheart raced over to Phoenixpaw's limp body. Her eyes were closed, and she wasn't breathing. "No, no, no..." Heavyheart muttered, burrowing his muzzle into her tabby ginger fur, trying to wake his friend. She didn't stir. Heavyheart lifted his head to the sky. "No!" he yowled bitterly. He dug his claws into the fresh snow, looking down at Phoenixpaw's body.
Phoenixpaw suddenly realised she could hear the anguished yowls of her Clan mates. Her side throbbed, and a full blast of pain returned. I'm not dead! she realised, and tried to open her eyes. They were sticky with blood, and she didn't even have the strength to open them. She drifted into unconsciousness.
Heavyheart closed his eyes and yowled again. "Thornfire," he choked. "Go and get Silverwish." But he knew it wouldn't help. She was dead. He froze. He leaned closer to Phoenixpaw's body. He thought he could hear the faintest blip of a heartbeat. She could still make it!

As Heavyheart raced forward, it was as if Stormcloud feeling were switched back on. And they weren't good feelings either. What have I done? He was horrified. The ginger apprentice - the ginger apprentice - was lying dead in the snow. And he'd killed her. Him. Stormcloud hadn't ever killed a cat, let alone an apprentice. She was going to get help! Reinforcements would have made crowfood out of us! Something inside him wailed, telling him he'd had no choice. But that wasn't true. There was always a choice.
I didn't start this fight! He told himself sternly, it was that hotheaded SnowClan warrior's fault! But you've ended it pretty effectively. The other side, the side disgusted at what he'd done, retorted. He groaned, taking several hasty steps backward to where his Clanmates stood. "We should leave now." He meowed, hoping they couldn't detect the tremor in his voice. His next words were to all the cats, "This is over."
Not even waiting to see if his denmates followed, Stormcloud turned and plunged into JaggedClan territory, trying not to think about what had been done. He hadn't meant to kill her, but then again, he hadn't meant to let his brother fall to his death either. that didn't change what had happened. Or the fact that his paws were now stained with the blood of a certain ginger apprentice.

Heavyheart looked helplessly at Phoenixpaw's blood spilling out across the snow. He was not medicine cat! He didn't know how to find cobwebs or anything else that would stop the bleeding! His mind whirred as he thought frantically of what to do. "We need to carry her back to camp," he meowed tersely. "I can hear a faint heartbeat." He put his head underneath hers, and lifting it gently. His mind told him just to drag her all the way, but he knew it would do no good to her wound, and if anything, would make it worse. He felt sick at the sight of so much blood.
Phoenixpaw held on, but to what, the meaning escaped her. All she knew was that she was certainly loosing too much blood, and nothing except a medicine cat could stop that. Her mind suddenly flared as she recalled what had happened. Hawkflight! she wailed in her mind, knowing he wouldn't hear her. But she still felt rest assured that he had come to her. She wasn't even a medicine cat apprentice! She wasn't supposed to have dreams from StarClan!

Emerging on the scene, Ghoststorm did not gasp, he did not become hysterical and he certainly did not faint. He simply gave a low hiss and slunk over to where Phoenixpaw lay. Who had done this? Who had dared kill a SnowClan apprentice? Contrary to a popular saying, Ghoststorm didn't just get even, he got mad too. Why settle for just one when you could do both?
Then Heavyheart spoke again, about carrying her back to camp. She would have to be buried. However, the smoky grey tom was not finished. He felt a heartbeat? Then there was hope for Raindance's apprentice yet. And that meant anger and everything else would have to be put on hold. Getting her to Silverwish would be their priority. Ghoststorm just prayed that the medicine cat would be back from the half-moon meeting.
"I'll take her other side." The silver tabby offered quietly, taking the apprentice's back legs in his mouth gently and heaving her up. It was too bad she was too big to just grab by the scruff and haul up the mountain but that couldn't be helped now. Piercing yellow eyes looked at Heavyheart, silently waiting for them to go.

Thornfire started at Heavyheart's voice, then saw Phoenixpaw's limp body as they picked her up. At instructions to fetch Silverwish, he nodded. "Yes, I'll be quick..." He mewed, half to himself, eyes alight with worry as he raced away towards the SnowClan border, no longer worrying about Stormcloud, he wouldn't dare attack with a furious Heavyheart standing in his way, would he? Forcing his legs to go faster, he broke into the territory, sliding through the air at the fastest speed he could muster.
---
Granetstorm froze, pelt bristling as he saw Phoenixpaw, still, limp. Her body did not rise and fall with breath, though maybe it did, in the softest, most unoticable way... He wriggled away from Riverstone. The fight was over, and at a death... he would abide, albeit reluctantly. Garnetstorm's forehead furrowed in worry, golden eyes flashing after Thornfire. Padding hesitantly up to Heavyheart, bracing himself for anger at the stupidity he had now realised had flown from him, the warrior asked, warily, worriedly, "What happened?"

Heavyheart said nothing at Ghoststorm's appearance, but he was none gladder than to see the SnowClan warrior. He felt a surge of gratitude towards the tom, and wished he could put it into words. But it would have to wait. Phoenixpaw needed to get back to Silverwish. His heart clenched with worry as he realised he might not even be back yet from his meeting. Hopefully Moonstar would know what to do. Or Raindance. After all, this was her apprentice. He bristled at the sight of Garnetstorm. He didn't reply, just gave him the heaviest glare he thought he had ever given a cat. Anger welled up inside him, but he couldn't do anything. He instead gave a short nod to Ghoststorm, and limped forwards in the snow, carrying Phoenixpaw on the back of his neck. He hardly noticed his own scratches and wounds, the large cut on his foreleg, and a deep slash on his shoulder. Tiredness threatened to overwhelm him, but he concentrated on putting one paw in front of the other. He had to. For Phoenixpaw's sake. He swallowed as he felt the warm trickling of blood against his back, and realised it must have come from her wound. Snow began to fall more heavily, and Heavyheart hoped they would get back before the wound would freeze in the bitter cold.
[[Heavyheart, Phoenixpaw and probably Ghoststorm to SnowClan camp, can't be bothered to go over the territory. ^^]]
