The stars glitter on the darkened pelt of the sky. There is not a cloud in sight, and the wind is eerily still. A harsh cold has settled over the area, and the Knotted tree, dead for seasons, mangled and oddly shaped, stands tall and proud, its twisted branches extended for clan leaders to perch upon.
The clans of the northern regions are growing. Ocean Sea has just left the home of the anscestors. StarClan watches to see what will come of this gathering. They wait expectantly. What will the clans decide upon when battle is so near?
It starts now.

Moonstar cautiously trotted to the edge of the hollow, peering through the frozen bracken into the area beyond. She was pleased to see SnowClan were the first to arrive, and hoped they would not have to wait long in the freezing weather. She glanced behind her to see the rest of the Clan following, then fixed her gentle stare on the hollow in front of them. She glanced upwards. A clear, starlit sky watched over them, and a eerie, harsh cold fog hung over the Knotted tree, as if welcoming the leaders and their Clans into their midst. Moonstar looked up, and hoped StarClan was watching this meeting closely. She bounded out of the bracken, down the gradual slope and into the hollow. The rest of the Clan cats followed, filling about a quarter of the space.
Phoenixpaw raced into the hollow, looking around in anticipation. This was the first Gathering as Raindance's apprentice, but she sadly reflected it was the first one without Hawkflight. She was impatient for the rest of the Clans to arrive. She wanted to meet other cats from other Clans, as she had always stuck with Hawkflight, listening to the warrior's tales, not with the other apprentices. It had been her choice though, and Hawkflight always let her have a free reign. She looked up at the Knotted tree, and shivered. But ti wasn't due to the biting cold. She suddenly realised there was no breeze. It struck her as slightly odd, there was usually a howling wind brought up by now. Sitting on the edge of SnowClan, she watched the other cats milling around, curling her tail around her paws.

Thornfire gathered with the other cats, sleek brown fur rippling as he gazed regally up at his leader, a mixture of respect and anticipation in his eyes. The warrior neatly curled his long tail around his warm body, feeling the silent whispers of wind falling through the air.
Thornfire gazed slowly around himself, amber depths seeking the other clans, but his search did not prevail as SnowClan sat alone, waiting by the knotted tree, twisted and knarled with age and the openess it had to the elements.

Wavestar swept into camp with SandClan behind her, the she-cat stepped delicatly onto a low bow of the knotted tree, nearby Moonstar, she ipped her head to the SnowClan leader, seeing that only two clans were present. Snow and Sand.
Silentwing slipped noiselesly into the throng of cats, settling next to an apprentice, Phoenixpaw, he had not met her before, so he dipped his head ever so slightly.

Phoenixpaw felt honored that a warrior, probably much more senior than herself, chose to sat next to her. Her fiery amber eyes shined brightly as she dipped her head respectfully, taking her gaze away from Moonstar. She felt slightly awed to see SnowClan's leader's pelt glisten in the moonlight, her soft, amber eyes sweeping the clearing. "Hello," she meowed politely. She didn't need to ask what Clan he was from, she could smell SandClan on his pelt. "Whats your name?" she loved especially about the Gatherings the part at the beginning, where she got the chance to meet other cats. She loved to make friends, and she found it strangely exhilarating to meet other cats from other Clans that she might find herself fighting against in the near future.
Moonstar bounded up onto the tree, choosing a high vantage point to watch the throng of cats below. Her soft gaze swept the clearing, trying to spot any JaggedClan or PineClan pelts among the foliage. Sighing, she glanced across at Wavestar, not moving her head. Twitching her ears, she turned her eyes back to the hollow, and spotted Phoenixpaw talking avividly to another cat, one she recognized as Silentwing. Moonstar was pleased to see the ginger apprentice seemed to be getting over Hawkflight's death, although Moonstar knew it would never completely leave her.

"Silentwing," He replied, strangly, the cat's melancholy mood had evaporated now that he was surrounded by another clan. "You?" He ad already taken a liking to the apprentice, younger cats always seemed so much more open, practically before they opened their mouthes in Silentwing's opinion.

"Phoenixpaw," she replied earnestly, her whiskers twitching. Her eyes shone, and she glanced around the clearing, seeing if any other Clans had arrived. Looking back at Silentwing, she smiled. "So how is SandClan?" she asked, hoping she wasn't too intrusive. She simply wanted to know about the other Clans.

~||~ Ghoststorm slipped into the clearing after his leader and settled down in a shadowy corner, the dappled light of the full moon falling across his black-crossed back makign him look more like a ghost than a real live cat. He was glad to find that he wasn't sneezign though, for once. The less other cats saw him the better. Personally, he didn't even know why Moonstar had let him come. Perhaps she was preocupied with her kits. She should be. The tom turned his dancing thoughts to the rapidly approaching discussion between leaders. What would they make of the sea-cats? ~||~

Silentwing smiled, his folrnity totally evaporating for a reason scarce known by other cats, "SandClan is well, though, have you heard of the invading sea cats? They invaded or territory, fought us for what was rightfully ours..." He coulddn't help a small amount of anger enter his glowing yellow eyes.
He twitched his whiskers in wonder at how the sea cats could have stayed, in a cramped little boa for so long, though he shied away from one question. What did they do with their dirt? There was nowhere to bury it...

"I don't think any cat hasn't heard of them," replied Phoenixpaw seriously, most of her excitement gone in the prospect of the Clan leader's talk about the sea cats. She was glad she had not been in the fight, Moonstar had instructed her to stay in camp. That was just after Hawkflight died. "I just got a new mentor," she continued proudly, lifting her head slightly. She didn't know why she was telling Silentwing this, but she had started to trust him already.
Moonstar noticed Ghoststorm padding towards the back of the assembled cats, and made a vow to make him see Silverwish when they got back. He did look awfully ill the last time she had set eyes on him, and she did not want the illness catching, whatever it was. She felt dearly sorry for him, as every cat knew how horrible it was to get a cold in the middle of Ice-Freeze.

Silentwing nodded at Phoenixpaw's comment, silently agreeing, he purred, however, when he heard of her new mentor, and vaguely remembered Hawkflight.
"Who?" He asked, unable to hide his curiosity, there was alot to be curious about these days, Ocean Sea, the fact that Raindance had arrived at the gathering at Moonstar's side, like a deputy, and, to top it off, ice-freeze in general.

Something has changed witin me...Something is not the same....I'm through with playing by the rules of someone elses game.....[img src=" "] Minnowpaw was usually a slower cat, but this time, even though he was puffing slightly with extertion, he was pleased to realise he wasn't too far behind alot of his clanmates- even his mentor, Silentwing. Everything seemed to feel all warm and tingly to him- not to mention new and and slightly overwhealming. Even the look his sister had given him as he left couldn't keep him down.
Amungst the few cats that were already gathered, he recognized Silentwing, and slowly started to make his way over to them. However, once he was only a few taillength away, he realised he was not alone- and in fact, his mentor was talking with a strange, Snowclan-scented cat, who could have been around his age, and if not, only slightly older. It was an almost instantanious reaction, and he shied away, nervous of meeting the new cat, but still, not to sure of where it was right for him to sit...Too late for second guessing.....Too late to go back to sleep....It's time to trust my instincts, close my eyes....and leap.....

Phoenixpaw noticed another apprentice, she presumed, approached them, but then shied away again. She tried to spot the apprentice in the crowd of cats, but it had disappeared. "Raindance," she mumbled in reply, still straining her neck to find the shy cat, not really focused on Silentwing. She suddenly shook her pelt, and dipped her head. "Thank you for your time, but I need to go now," she meowed, wanting to meet other cats. But more importantly, to see if she could find the apprentice. She used to be shy, but Hawkflight had persuaded her to change her ways. Phoenixpaw suddenly realised how much Hawkflight had done for her. She only hoped sadly that Raindance might do the same for her too. She got up, looking around. It was hard to spot any kind of particular cat in the crowd of cats that were milling around the clearing. And JaggedClan and PineClan haven't even arrived yet! she thought in awe, wondering if they were all going to fit in. She realised SandClan had grown slightly in numbers too. This would be an exciting Gathering.

Purring in satisfaction, she paced around the place for a little while, unwilling to sit in one spot simply waiting. There was an eerie feeling this time. No breeze stirred the clearing, and a thin fog had settled on the area. Giving a slight shiver, Raindance hoped no cat had noticed. Deputies were supposed to give strength to their clan, not fear.
She suddenly smelled brine and ocean. SandClan was coming. Remembering the battle on territory as they padded into the clearing, she wondered how they were doing. She watched as they entered. None looked too badly hurt. She padded over to a SandClan cat who had, just a moment ago, been speaking with her own apprentice, eager to make a new acquaintance.
"Greetings," she mewed, padding over to him and twitching her ears in a friendly manner. Glancing around, Raindance realized that even though there were only two clans who had arrived so far, the clearing seemed more crowded than usual. The clans were gaining numbers. Bringing her thoughts back to the present, she added, "I'm Raindance. You are...?" she sat down then, wrapping her grey-green tail neatly around her paws, just as she had vowed not to do when she entered. <<- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ♫

Heavyheart trotted into the clearing after Phoenixpaw, looking around. He was never a cat to worry, and he hardly even noticed the thick, muffling mist that had seemed to lay over the hollow. He glanced around again, and was pleased to see SnowClan were the first there. He paced up and down, feeling an agitated restlessness, although he wasn't sure why. He unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief as the sea scent of SandClan wafted towards him, and he dissolved into the now growing crowd of cats, looking for any groups of warriors he could talk with. He spotted Raindance talking to another SandClan warrior who he didn't know, so he padded over to join them. He continued to look around, his sharp, stormy gray eyes scanning the bushes beyond the Knotted tree. He noticed Moonstar, stood proud and dignified on a higher branch than Wavestar, who also looked calm and composed, her pelt shining in the moonlight. Eerie shadows were cast across the clearing, but Heavyheart didn't notice anything odd about them. But there was always an air of spookiness at Gatherings, and the fact that it happened at night. He looked up, the stars shining like peppered holes in a black velvet blanket, while bright, twinkling light shone through. His gaze passed over Silverpelt. Sighing, he thought of his own mother and father, and wondered if they were shining brightly as well as the other Clan cats that resided in the skies. His ears twitching, he curled his tail around his paws, the thick, gray fur covering his paws completely.
