Groaning, Dove got out of his shadowy hiding place, annoyed he had been noticed. Stepping out into the bright sun, the tom flicked his tail towards Island, who was already climbing out of the cave, gripping the soft moss in an attempt not to slid down the cave. Salt and the other to-bes were already practicing, so Dove sat down to watch them fight, making sure to keep out of the way of the energetic cats. He disliked fighting and the danger it bought anyways, but had no desire to risk Lightning's wrath by not doing what he was told.
Island pranced out into the beach before Dove, taking in the strange colors and smells in an instant, then turning back to Salt, who was doing well by herself. Not wanting to interject, the she-cat sat and waited, not quite sure what to do. She had never trained to-bes before, after all.

Salt's body shook with laughter as the to-bes went to town, so to speak, on her. Batting her ears, tail, and flanks. Had their claws been unsheathed, this would have been a bloody mess. Sitting up against the exuberant to-bes, she glanced to the cave entrance to see Dove and Island scrabbling out of it. "You're good, I'll admit," she mewed, shaking her pelt clumsily to try and dislodge them, "but you can do better. If Island and I teach you, that is," she then eyed Island. "Let's show them what fighting is really about!" she then leapt away from where the to-bes were standing and sprung at Fish who had tumbled off her back, pinning him on the ground and giving a yowl of triumph, waiting for Island to help her "defeat" the young cats.
Fish gasped as he was flung off of Salt's back. He had just stood up, beginning to shake the sand of his golden fur when Salt was upon him, pinning him back into the sand which he so despised. At least this time, he wasn't face-flat on the ground, he realized. Flailing his paws forward to try and bat Salt's face, he gave a yowl of mock contempt, spitting in the boat-guard's face.
Wood took a step back from where he had been squatting in the sand. Making a face as he shook out his paw, he realized his horrible dislike for the stuff they were standing on, and watched as Salt pounced on his brother. Tentativley, he padded forward, and began to wrestle her hind leg, trying to get it off-balance and make her fall. It worked, and suddenly, her leg gave in, hindquarters collapsing onto the ground. Wood sprang back and stared for a moment. What to do next? Padding forward, he got a grip of her flanks and began dragging himself up her back, trying to reach her shoulders to push her head into the sand. His body trembled, in fear of attacking an older boat-guard that was from his Tribe. He wasn't completley comfortable with the situation, but didn't want to seem a wuss, either.

"Island!" Screeched Bubble, caught up in her excitement. The little she-cat attempted to twist and mew her greeting whilst batting Salt's ear with her forepaws. The result was a bundle of tabby and white fur hurtling towards Island to rebound off her paws and sit up, murky green eyes slightly crossed. Bubble sat there, dazed, for a couple heartbeats before shaking her small head and pulling herself back into the standing position. "Hi...Island." She repeated hesitantly, tail flickering back and forth to try and steady her dizzy self.

Island laughed, happy to take part in the training. Jumping on the still-dizzy Bubble, the she-cat began to rake her claws on the to-be's back, hoping to use her larger size and push Bubble down on the sand. Of course, Island's claws were seathed, as the boat-guard had no intention to hurt a cat from her own tribe. "Got you!" Island meowed loudly, for a second forgetting that she wasn't a to-be anymore.

"All right, already! Let me up!" Meowed Bubble indignantly, squirming with all her might to free herself. Unfortunately her efforts were in vain as Island's superior size and strength had her quite firmly pinned. The young she-cat's mind was already whirring with ideas on how to launch her counter-attack but none could be executed from this position.

Eyes shinning, Island jumped off the to-be, landing on the soft ground clumsily, still not used to it. "See, Bubble?" The she-cat started, her amber eyes full of excitement. "That's why you should always be alert. An enemy cat won't get off so easily." The she-cat pondered on what to do next, then decided to continue on with the lesson, and let Salt deal with Wood and Fish. "Now try jumping on me, Bubble." Island stretched her legs, waiting for the she-cat to pounce. By tomorrow they would have to be ready for the clan cat's attack.
Dove quietly took a few steps back, heading towards the cave, hoping to slip away unnoticed.

"Alright you two," Salt mewed, stepping away from Fish and allowing him to stand up, she then felt paws on her back, and suddenly, her head was plunging into the sand. She gave a yowl as her face hit the ground, and felt the weight lift from her. "Sorry! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" Were the hysterical mew she heard as she lifted her head from the sand. They were coming from a blurry, hysterical Wood. "I'm really sorry!" Salt gave a mrrow of laughter, shaking out her pelt. "No need to be, Wood!" she mewed brightly, "It was a good technique!" She then sat up straight, blinking a few times to get the sand out of her eyes before gazing at the brothers before her. How different they were! "Now, that was a good attack, Wood. But if you perform it on the battlefield, drag your claws up the apponet's back as you go up for more damage, and bite somewhere while pushing their head in. Once they've gone face-flat, quickly begin to tear up the back of their neck instead of leaping off and yowling your apologies," she added the last part in an amused purr. "Now. Fish, Wood an I are both going to come at you, you need to try and dodge both of us at the same time. It's a common and dangerous situation to be attacked by two warriors at once, so you need to know how to deal with it. Wood, let's go," she then darted at Fish as Wood did the same. Fish leapt away, skidding on the sand, trying to gain his footing, and the two cats pounced at him again. This time, Wood pinned his brother on the ground, fur prickling in embarassed pride. "Very good!" salt mewed to the two young cats, "now Fish, do you know what you should have done? Both me and Wood were running at you from either side. If you couldn't dart in the other direction, why don't you leap into the air and try and make a landing on one of our backs? It may seem hard, but if you manage to do it, you'll have a great advantage over the other. Just be sure to dig your claws in deep when you land, so you don't get shaken off." The three cats praticed this then, two running at the other while one leaped in the air, trying to land on the others back.
Fish finally yelled, "I DID IT!" He had made it onto his brother's back, and though the dark tom could not support his bigger brother's weight, and was therby laying face-flat in the sand, limbs sprawled out on either side, he managed to poke his head up. "Great!" he choked encouragingly, as his brother stepped gingerly off of him.

Bubble's white-tipped tail flicked back and forth rapidly in excitement as her wide, murky green eyes trained themselves on her target - Island's back. Barely supressing a yowl, she leaped up into the air adn forwards, aiming to land on the she-cat boat-guard's tabby back.

Feeling Bubble's weight press down on her, Island attempted to twist her body around, raking at the to-be with sheathed claws. Showing her small white teeth, Island smiled at Bubble. "Good job! But you can't expect to pin down a larger and more experienced boat-guard like me. You should use a maneuver like Wood did." Sending a glance towards Salt, the she-cat silently willed the older cat to come and help her, as he obviously knew how to train to-bes better then she did. He taught Fish a new counter-attack very quickly, and could probably easily show Bubble how to use Wood's attack.

Horizon watched the training session from afar, her amber tail flicking idly. She was not a cat to worry about the future, although now she was musing over what they would possibly do. They couldn't leave, after that. No, they had to stay. But where? And the land cats seemed hostile, would they really want those cats behind them? She sighed, turning away.

At the mention of her name, Salt spun around, and the brothers she was training looked up as Fish crawled off of Wood. "You heard Island," Salt mewed warmly to the young toms, "Wood, show Bubble how you attacked me before, by pushing my head into the sand," seeing a sudden look of slight dread and angush flood his face, Salt gave him a reassuring purr. "It's alright Wood, I don't mind," She then stood up, bracing herself on the sand. She did not particularly like being a dummy for modeling attacks, but in this case, the she-cat didn't mind all that much. Making sure her paws were planted firmly on the ground, she mewed, "Okay, go."
Wood gulped. There were several things about this situation that he did not like. First of all, all eyes were trained on him. He hated being the center of attention! And secondly, he did not like to attack older warriors. Why couldn't Salt have instructed him to attack his brother? He suddenly felt his brother lean over, giving him a reassuring lick. "It's okay, Wood. You can do it!" Fish mewed encouragingly. Wood gulped. Giving his fiercest battle-yowl, he leaped upon Salt's hindquarters. Dragging himself onto the she-cat, he scrabbled over her body, until reaching her head, and shoved it with all his might into the sand. Her front paws collapsed from underneath her as her face hit the ground, and he tried his best to give a triumphant yowl before scrabbling his sheated back paws along her flanks, as if tearing at her fur.
Fish watched impressed at his brother's display. Though the dark cat was obviously self-concious, and very out of his element, he was a good fighter, despite his smaller size. Stnading up, Fish gave a yowl of encouragement to his brother, and he saw the dark tom's fur prickle in embarassment as he stepped off of the older cat, nervousness in his eyes. There was no need, though, for Salt simply pulled her head from the sand once Wood was off of her. Shaking her pelt throughly for a few heartbeats, she cleared all the sand from her face. "You see? That is how you should attack a larger warrior. Care to give it a try on me, Bubble? You all can!" was Salt's upbeat reply. Fish purred, realizing that the formerly sullen she-cat had seemed to forget her sorrows for the moment.

Needing no further invitation, Bubble tensed and launched herself at the new target, scrambling desperately up Salt's tortoiseshell back to arrrive at her head. She hesitated for a moment here, what had Wood done? Not able to remember the exact details, Bubble simply used her whole body weight to plop down on the older warrior's head, hoping to force it down into the sand. The next heartbeat, however, her momentum made her tumble head over paws right off Salt's head and onto the sand below herself. Not exactly the desired effect of that move.

Salt stood, braced on the sand as the she-cat scrambled over her. Tensing, preparing herself for when the young cat would push Salt's head down, it did not come as a surprise when the to-be gave a shove, forcing Salt's head into the sand. The manner was slightly harsher than how Wood had done the attack, and it made Salt give a sharp intake of breath as her face plummeted into the sand. Effective, she realized, and shook in laugher as she felt the to-be stumble off of her, presumably tumbling into the sand. Pulling her face up from the earth and sneezing a few times, Salt gave a happy mrrow. "Good work, Bubble!" she mewed brightly, "It was effective, and I'm sure that in battle, your claws would have been hooked to my skin, so you wouldn't have toppled off," She purred then, padding over to Island. "What else do you think we should teach them?" she mewed, not meaning to speak around the to-bes, rather, to have a discussion as the young cats amused themselves.

Island thought for a few minutes, elated that Salt considered her opinion. "Maybe we should teach them what to do when a larger cat pins them down?" The she-cat meowed, making sure to keep her voice soft and low. Thinking back to her training, Island remembered you were supposed to attmept to roll over on your back, but that was not always possible. "Most of the cats fighting are boat-catchers, not to-bes, so they'll have to know how to do that." Island wondered how much Salt knew, because you couldn't be pinned down in the water. Dove padded up to Wood, his eyes fixed on the to-be. "How did you come up with that?" Tabby fur rufflling in the slight, the tom wondered what Bubble, Wood and Fish might think, being cave-guard, expected to face this everyday. At least he was a fish-catcher, he would be able to stay out of trouble.

Bubble let out a hearty purr at the praise from Salt but mentally reminded herself that in a real battle, the cat would not simply wait around for her to push their head into the sand. Hopefully she woudln't fall off in a real battle either. The little tabby she-cat scampered back over to Fish and Wood, rolling on her back next to them in her excitement. She didn't even notice Dove approach, or the two boat-guards speaking.
